So... after everyones settles down after the wedding how many of you would consider moving out of NY??? I would love to move down to south carolina it looks like such a nice simple easy lifestyle! But I dont know if I could leave my family Im not sure what we are goign to do... FH says he wouldnt mind moving either but when it comes down to it i dont know if we can actually move and leave everyone!! What everone else's plans?

We are thinking of moving to Orlando. I know we definately want to move out of NY. The cost of living is way too high for us.

We already moved.... we relocated to Philly in September and we love it! I recommend leaving NY - soooo much cheaper anywhere else!

i think we going to move to california..we're not sure yet...My Fh is Aerospace Mechanical engineer..and the jobs for him are there and in TEXas and all those places...but i would never live in texas....hahah

we've considered it: connecticut, california, maybe even the carolinas. i have the same misgivings about leaving family, and finding a job there that justifies (and pays for) my $45,000 masters degree is another challenge that holds me back. one way or another, i'm not going to pay a half a million dollars for a 3-bedroom ranch in a mediocre part of town, which seems to be the going rate these days. long island's just not worth that much to me.

We've already moved too. We live in Oregon. I miss my family and friends like crazy! But honestly its just not worth it to live on LI with the way prices are these days.

see I feel the same way... I feel like there are so many other places to live. I feel like long island has just gotten too over crowded and over priced! But i dont know how I feel abut leaving family esp when we have kids I want them to grow up knowing their family like I did.

I have my heart set on North Carolina.... Somewhere around the raleigh area so we're not too far from new york and FH's sister just moved there.

i think we would leave but #1.. i dont want to leave my family and #2 FH would take a 50% paycut and it would bc REALLY hard for him to find a job and keep one anywhere else. NY is very big with his job.

we moved to charleston sc, and are loving it! the weather is awesome and the people are really nice! my pay (when i go back to teaching) will be significantly lower, but my FH who is a software engineer, is getting the same pay. and just to give you an example of the prices here... our apartment is a 2 bed/ 2 bath 1,100 square foot with a screened in balcony and we pay $800 buying a home is also much cheaper
its definitely a hard decision though... although its only an hour flight (100 bucks for non-stop) its still tough. we have 5 weddings coming up, and between the flights, renting a car, hotels, and whatnot, it will be expensive. its also hard to not be near my family all the time, but i have been back 6 times since sept!!!

I wouldn't move out of NY I love it! I am going to move out of Brooklyn as soon as we can afford a house! I don't want to have kids in the city. It drives me nuts seeing huge pregnet ladies on the subways standing and men sitting. Also the same thing goes with woment with babies and old people!

I love looking at realtor.com. I have seen so many 4 bedroom houses that are under $175,000. I know I could never find that in NY.
