I would not, FH looked long and hard to find something for me. I would not even want to tell him I would change it, I think it would hurt him very much. But that is just us.

i already changed mine. It was not really what I wanted. (FH know that b/4 he gave it to me) We were going to hold of for awhile but I broke it so it was a perfect time to get a new one.

We changed mine last week. FH and I discussed it and he was OK with it. As long as you can assure him that the change is not a reflection on him and you agree on the change then I think its ok.

Re: Would anyone consider...
No way. I love my ring. My diamond is actually my mom's diamond from her e-ring. He secretly went to my mom, asked her for the ring, then went high and low for the best jeweler to take good care of the diamond when putting it in the setting.
He took his cousin with him and she said he drove the jeweler nuts because he made him put the stone in every setting and some settings 3 or 4 times.
He put so much care and thought into it I would never ask for a change.
I think the only way I would have my setting changed is if I have a girl I want her to have the e-ring and the stone. I want to pass down the ring. My mom's stone is 25 years old and it would mean a lot to me to pass it down to my daughter.

If I really disliked it yes I'd consider changing it.

Re: Would anyone consider...
I love my ring, but I always wanted platinum. I told him that before, but he got me yellow gold. Now I am talking about having my wedding band made, and am not sure if I want to spend all that money on a custom made band when I may change my ring one day. I feel bad telling him though. I do not want to hurt his feelings. That is not something you can take back- either he will take it well, or be hurt (with no way to fix it) He was so excited when he gave it to me, but I don't know if that was because of the ring, or because we got engaged.

Re: Would anyone consider...
maybe if you get the same setting in platinum? The only reason I would have considered changing my setting would have been if it had been yellow gold. I just don't like wearing yellow gold.
My DH designed my ring and shopped around until he found a jeweler to make it for him. He put so much time and effort in, and stressed about it so much that I would never change it. I know it would hurt/disappoint him. But I'm lucky, cause I love my ring. He had a good idea of what I would like - and its hard to go wrong with a platinum solitaire.
You know your FI best - how do you think he'll react? You could tell him you'd really like to get a platinum wedding band, but you want the two to match, so maybe you should reset the diamond in plat?

Okay- I just asked him if he would mind. I said it gently, like it was just a passing thought.
His response 'whatever you want. As long as you keep the same diamond. That ring isn't really practical to have a matching band anyway, is it?' So I said 'your feelings won't be hurt?' and he said 'not at all. I am actually suprised you like it as much as you do.' What a relief!

Re: Would anyone consider...
My cousin is pondering doing it - but her FI didnt spend millions of hours agonizing over the ring - she picked it! Because of that, the FI does not feel bad that she is doing it - he wants her to be happy! But each couple is different - ask the FI!!!

I love my ring so no I wouldn't consider it. However, I don't think it is mean to change it either...I'm sure he would want you to absolutely love what you are wearing.
