For my sil's shower I made the candle poem & basket thing for her. Now the thought of getting up and reading the poem in front for 40 people makes me wanna but my sil has NO problem doing that kinda thing. Would it be horrible if I add a little note on top of the poem saying ' read me outloud' I reallllllllllly don't want to get up and read it but it seems tacky to just put read me outloud. Do you think she will just read it outloud on her own??? I have it printed up on nice stationary and is attatched to the outside of the basket

That's what my mom did to me! I read it, but then I felt embarrassed when i started to tear up and then I ended the poem one line before the end.

You could have her read it to herself and then pass it around for everyone to look at.

one of my bm did the same poem. she was nerous at first, but after she started to read it, she was fine. you'll be ok to read it. just take your time. it's better when you read it, cuz it's from you.

I think you would do fine, but I don't think it would be so bad if she read it out loud. No one is really gonna say 'Ya know she should have read that herself!!'

I went to a shower and the bride opened it and then read it to everyone. I think it is totally fine if you dont read it. No reason to be stressed out on a fun day!

Awe.. my SIL read it to me, and it was so cute, and had such an impact on me and my guests. I cried... You may need to read it for her. Ofcourse it's cheesy, but it's what us ladies do at these things. We play games, we read/write poems, and we'll do it again at our baby showers!! GO FOR IT!!
