Would this be strange?!

Okay so most of our bridal party consists of couples. In April of 2014 our Best Man and one of our Bridesmaids are getting married. Theyre doing the Disney cruse (5days 4nights) because she has a younger son. Theyre doing the Wedding package through Disney so the package only covers 8 people and theyre acutally going to be having to pay more because she has a huge family. Last night FH got the text from his BM asking if we would be able to go. We, however, are not included in the wedding package so we would have to pay our own way. The only solution that I could come up with was for us to forgo our honeymoon and book the honeymoon package for the same date/ship as the wedding. That way were kinda killing 2 birds with one stone. Im not really willing to give up on a HM or their wedding and from the standpoint that Im at, this is the only way to do both. FH thinks is kinda wierd for us to be honeymooning on their 'wedding cruise' but I dont think that we would be with them all that much except for the certain activites that pertain to the wedding. We would be on our own for the most part.. What do you guys think about this... Im conflicted because I REALLY want both. Theyve both been amazing friends to us and I really dont want to have to compromise...

This is hard because personally, I wouldn't give up my honeymoon. I don't think you will get the same 'honeymoon' feel on a cruise ship with your friends which you are prob going to end up spending time with. Can you save your honeymoon for like a 1 year anniversary trip instead so you can still do both?

My experience with cruise ships and family is that the boats are so huge, you can be as together or not as you want. We have gone on family cruises and hardly saw anyone except for dinner! Sweet! LOL Just book your cabin far away from everyone elses.

Hmm, tough one. My friend booked her HM through Costco and FH and I also looked up vacation packages on BJs. Both sites came in about $2000+ under any other site we looked at. Take a look and see. Perhaps there is someway you can have both. I'd hate for you to have compromise on your HM or to miss out on your friend's wedding.

Its not really a compromise as far as the honeymoon goes.. All I wanted for the HM is tropical and Im def getting that with this cruise. I guess my real question is, would it be disrespectful to the bride/groom for us to be honeymooning on their wedding cruise? Our objective is not to take their spotlight or anything like that. We wouldnt be adverstising the fact that were honeymooning to their families or anything.. I just dont want to upset them either..

I think it's a great compromise ! Your not going to be w them 24/7 and I'm sure there will be plenty of time on your own. Just give them a heads up that's your plan and if thy have been such amazing friend they will understand. Why waste more $$ than necessary

I agree. This can be like a mini hm and you can plan something for the future after you save up some money!

Will your friends be ok with that? I'm sure they will, it is all up to you.

I think that if it's ok with you then that's a great compromise and I give you a lot of credit for being so flexible...

I think you should just ask your friends if that would be ok. I have been on a cruise and you can go the whole time without seeing them.I think if its a honeymoon that you both would want then go for it. You can go on your own excursions.

I agree with this too! They shouldn't take offense to your plan. It shows them that you are willing to compromise on your own honeymoon to be a guest at their wedding instead of you just going on your HM and telling them you can't afford to go to their wedding cruise.
