would this bother you?

would this bother you?

One of my BMs camera's was stolen at my wedding. I feel awful about it but there's really nothing I can do. Anyway, every time I see her she brings up how someone stole her camera at my wedding. I already apologized profusely and told her it bothers me that she brings it up all the time b/c I don't want her to remember my wedding as the wedding where her camera was stolen. I get an e-mail 2 seconds ago with this:

i love my new camara...there are hardly any redeye in it....i have some a$shole at jess's wedding to thank for that..hahaha

It's driving me nuts!!

It would definitely bother me. I would feel like she is trying to say something about my guests or my choice of RH. If you have tried to speak to her about it the best thing might just be for you to and ignore her. That or just tell her to let it go already! you got it!.

I would bring it back up to her and tell her how it makes you feel - maybe this is some backwards way of trying to make you feel responsible so you will offer to reimburse her.. but I would not even let it get down that road.. tell her how it makes you feel and hopefully she will grow up..

do you think she wants you to offer to replace it?

yes that would bother me! Its not your fault it was stolen!!!! She was careless with it (im guessing she just left it on the table, and should have been more careful) yes it was your wedding, but it was her fault that it was taken, not yours...and shouldnt bring it up to u so much!

That's what I was thinking. That she is waiting to hear 'how much was your new camera so that I can reimburse you'.

Sounds to me like she wants you to offer to pay for it. And yes it would bother me.

One suggestion (though I am sure you did this) -- did you ask around if anyone picked up the wrong camera accidentally? It happened to my mom once she grabbed my cousins camera, my cousin grabbed someone elses and my sister ended up with two. They all look a like. It was a few weeks later when my dad started looking through the pictures on the camera he thought was my mom's he then realized that it wasn't hers.

My point -- someone could have innocently taken it and have not even realized yet.

I could understand her bringing it up once or twice but now I think it is getting ridiculous. How does this make it your fault sounds like she is blaming you because it was your wedding.

I don't think anyone would steal it intentionally...I think someone took it home by mistake. It may turn up.
SOrry your friend is giving you a hard time.

That is just wrong, obviously you feel bad enough no need to tell everybody.

DH and I once had the Ipod stolen out of the car from valet. We never even told the couple actually so they don't know.

Re: would this bother you?

and there is the possibility that she misplaced it?

FH lost a brand new pack of cigs at the last wedding we were at - he left them on the table outside during CH - by the time he realized they were gone - obviously there is a difference between cigs and a camera - but people to leave things laying around by accident, so she could have left it somewhere

That really would bother me.
I'm sure she's acting that way because she somehow felt that it was your responsibility to replace it even though it was her responsibility to keep it with her and not set it down somewhere.

Re: would this bother you?

Thanks girls. I responded to her and told her that I'm sorry she lost her camera at my wedding, I'm glad she likes her new one. Can we please stop mentioning this? And she responded haha ok. I have a feeling that won't be the end of it though!

in response to some other responses, I don't think she wants me to pay for it. I do agree it was her own fault, she did leave it out and got ridiculously drunk so I can see where her camera was prayed upon.

I don't think someone mistakened it for their own. She had the band make an announcement to see if anyone accidentally took her camera and no one fessed up. My wedding was over a month ago and so far no one has claimed to have her camera, I do think it was stolen. We also had an issue with a wedding envelope at my wedding so I don't think her camera being stolen is too far fetched.

Yea it's like enough already. I don't even think I would mention it to the couple after their wedding let alone during the wedding because they would probably feel bad. I personally would have called the Rh after to see if it was found...I would be annoyed

Re: would this bother you?

ummm... yeah, i'd be bothered. I'd feel as though she's waiting for ME to offer to buy her a new one. Which would be ridiculous. I don't care if it was at your wedding. If you (or your child) physically Broke her camera, then yeah, you should offer to pay. But not if it was just somebody random at your wedding. It could have been one of the workers, not even a guest. So, in your shoes, I'd be mad that she seems to imply that you should fix the problem.

But, no, i wouldn't say anything. you said that you had already told her that it bothers you. Once is enough. If she didn't hear you, she never will. And now that she got a NEW CAMERA, maybe she'll finally move on with her life.
