Having no luck in Nassau County...I'm now checking out some areas in Suffolk...like E.Northport/Northport.
I currently work in the Mineola area and my FH works in Brooklyn (however, will be relocated to a hospital nearest to wherever we end up - so relocation is being planned).
Anyway, Would traveling from E. Northport to Mineola be doable ?

I have been commuting from east northport to queens (whitestone) for the past 6 years!!!!

We are waiting to close on a house in E. Northport and I work in Manhasset and FI works in Garden City. I agree, it's a very do-able commute!

I think it can be OK. It is pretty much a straight run on the Northern/LIE. And if you find someone you can commute with maybe you can take the HOV lane?

it's doable, especially if you get out of wokr at a normal hour. I commute from Stony brook, and it is HELL! Not because of the commute alone, but because I work till 9:00 every night lately and get home at 12:00.
So if you have a better work schedule, it isn't bad to commute from Northport.

It is doable but very long. I drive from Franklin Square to Hauppauge everyday and have been doing it for 5 years. I am sooo sick of it. It is close to 1 hour each way and more if there is an accident or snow/rain. I am going 'against traffic' as everyone likes to say but there is traffic all day every day. You would be with traffic. So just keep in mind the time it will take out of your life to commute back and forth. I am so jealous of people with 5 or 10 minute drives to work.
But when I move to Suffolk in October I will have a 15 minute commute.

I used to commute from Hicksville from Hauppauge. The drive was a breeze! I think Northport to Mineola shouldn't be too bad.

We live in Lake Ronkonkoma and I commute into Hempstead every day! About 1 1/2 hrs. My second job is actually in E. Northport which I go to from Hempstead at 5pm, it takes about an hour. DH used to commute from Lake Ronkonkoma to Brooklyn, he worked 7:30am - 3:30pm and it took him about 2hrs.
You can shave about 30 minutes off from E. Northport into Nassau.
ETA: It's doable. Some days I have extreme road rage but most days it's bareable. I have XM radio which helps pass the time too.

I got sirrus radio two christmas's ago, that really helped my commute, too!!!!!

My BIL commutes via train from Stony Brook to Mineola every day and says it is really quite relaxing. He sleeps on the train, no worries.
