So Im having difficulty printing my addy on the back of the outer envelope (apparently envelope is too thick )...I read on a site you can always use clear address sticker labels..but you need a laser printer (which I dont have)...do you think if I printed the addy on white background labels it would look bad??

i don't have a laser printer and i use clear labels all the time. in fact, i used them for my STD. i don't think you'll have a problem, as long as you let them dry before you stick them on the envelope!!! HTH

JMO, but I think it would look pretty bad. I would hand-write them before using a label.

i used clear address labels for my off-white envelopes and i have an ink jet printer.... i had no problems... just make sure you give them a minute to dry before you put them on... you should be fine.....

Millie, were you able to print on the front of the envelope? If so, I'm stumped as to why it wouldn't let you print on the back side...
Hmm, I'm not a fan of using labels (clear or otherwise) on wedding invitations. I know many people use them and are ok with that, so follow your gut. I just don't like the look, especially after you took the time to make your invites look so professional.
I would either handwrite them, or order an embosser with your address so that you can emboss the back flap (shouldn't take more than a week to get to you, but I don't know if you want to wait).

Re: Would this look bad??
i guess its just my printer then...i dont have a laser printer and when i tried to print on clear labels for my STDs, it never dried, no matter how long i left it. it would smear a day later. so i had to do something similar to what youre talking about w/ white label, but i didnt care bc it was just STDs and you couldnt really tell unless you looked close. but i prob wouldnt want to use a white label for my invites, bc you want a more tailored look. either try the clear labels in your printer to really test it out, hey it may work fine for you. or i agree, id write them out before id use white label. GL!

i would try and use clear labels first before using white labels. i do think it would not look as nice with white labels. i don't think you have to have laser printer to use clear labels.
maybe you could order a sheet of labels from an online website cheap so you don't have to use white labels
Check out this site: American Stationery the one i posted a link to is cute and comes in clear label. but they have others that all come available in clear labels

This is becuas you most likely bought the wrong clear labels... if you buy the one that is specific for your printer then it won't be a problem... I think if you buy one that is for laser jet, but you have an ink jet printer then it will smear no matter what.
I personally would try someone else's printer first before using clear labels... or I would print it in the top right hand corner....

I agree with Renee, if you cant them to print on the clear I would NOT use the white, I would print them on the front before using white labels

Re: Would this look bad??
I was printing my invites on vellum which I think might be similar to the clear labels and had problems with the ink not drying too. I carefully blotted it and used a hair dryer so they finally dried in about 2 hrs.
Since I didn't want to do this for the entire amount I played with the printer options.Part of the problem I think is that the ink comes out too thick. I made sure I clicked the button for BLACK ink only, not color cause when you use the black ink rather than having the colr mix blue/red/yellow it doesn;t come out as strong! Also I used the plain paper option rather than heavy matte or color paper. The addresses print a little lighter but still readable and dry in a minute. So see what options you have on your printer and try again.

I wouldn't use a white label. I'd write them in calligraphy, or buy the clear labels and ask a friend w/ a laser printer to help.

Re: Would this look bad??
if printing in the front is not an option, what about buying a custom stamp with your address?
I would also avoid address stickers on a wedding invitation....
good luck!!!

Re: Would this look bad??
Thanks girls!..to answer the above posters question on how I was able to print the delivery addys but not the return..1st- I went through about 20 envelopes..which I screwed up because everytime it printed out an envelope it came out smeared...then my bro told me that maybe its because the envelope is too thick...well guess what, thats what it was. So what I did was open the flap and place the envelope in completely flat...then it started to work..however, if you want to print out the return addy on the back flap there is no way whatever to do this unless the envelope is inserted the correct way...which then, it would come out smeared...so I figured I would go with labels...but I read online that clear labels can not be printed with inkjet printers, but you girls are telling me otherwise. I am going to go to staples tomorrow and buy a pack...lets see how that goes...

ditto, but don't use the white labels if it doesn't work for some reason. JMHO
