My FH and his cousin are very close,,,in age and everything and I guess they've always been pretty competative like brothers. Anyway his cousin announced his engagement to a girl that was still in highschool three years ago..anyway. We just got engaged 24/Dec 06. Over the last couple of weeks we have been researching RH's and the church we basically set a date - we are penciled in both the church and the RH. Well....today his cousin and his FW announced that they are getting married the same weekend!!!. Since they technically were engaged before us does that mean that they get the date.../?? Mind you this is the first we or any other fam members are hearing of them even setting a date yet!!! They haven't even gone to RH or church yet! (I know b/c she was out of the country and just got back on Friday) Am I out of line???

I dont think you are out of line at all and you have every right to be angry. I sympathize with you, Im in a slightly similar position. Ive had my wedding date booked since last february and one of my good friends just got engaged 2 months ago and booked her wedding for the day before mine. Ive gone through a very wide range of emotions and being verry angry was def one of them. Hopefully, you can talk them and have them change their date esp since they havnt gone to look at anything yet.

Im also in a similar situation as you. I got engaged and then set my date last february and shortly after my cousin got engaged 3 months after i booked my wedding to her boyfriend of 6 years. I was really happy for her until she told me that she booked her wedding 2 weeks before mine, and she knew and so did my entire family that i was getting married in june. I was angry for a while and i dont get how people could be so insonsiderate. Maybe you should confront her about it? I confronted my cousin but that ended in her telling me what she isnt wrong and that im selfish for thinking that way. So nothing got resolved. Hopefully you can resolve this....good luck
