would this stop u from booking...

Original post by E-n-K

FH and I really liked majestic gardens, but a some of people we know have been there for events other than weddings. Would this stop u from booking-we don't want people to think were getting married at a sweet 16 or company dinner place rather than a wedding place. What do u think??

I'm a little biased - but I love MG.

My mom (of all people) and a few people who will be attending my wedding, have been to MG for other weddings. They thought it was fantastic and only had wonderful things to say. And with my mom, unas=bashed praise is not something she does lightly.

People having other events there don't concern me, I figure, it's a different time of year, it's different decoration, the guest list will be 98% different, the DJ, the food selection, etc... it's all different.

Just go with what you love and works best for you.

Good Luck

first of all...STOP WORRYING about what people MIGHT think about YOUR wedding!!!

a reception hall is just that...they hold receptions!! i was booking WM when they had a communion party going on and all i could think of was 'wow, i wish i had such a fancy communion party!'

unless your family has had several events there in the past that were not wedding related, it won't matter to anyone. and it probably wouldn't matter even if you DID have sweet 16/bar mitzvah, etc parties there!

It wouldn't stop me. If you like the place that is all that matters.

It wouldnt stop me, no one is going to go there and say so and so had their sweet 16 there, most likely if they say anything it will be we went there for..... and it was great.

If you love the place then go for it!

Go for it, if you like it then do it. I worked at a restaurant for 5 years and they were more known for other parties, but they have done weddings on occasion. no one found it odd at all.

it is your wedding do what you want!

I had my senior prom there and I would have booked my wedding there if it was in my budget! The place is gorgeous and it won't look like a sweet sixteen when it's fixed up for a wedding! Have your wedding where YOU want! People aren't going to care!

no matter where you go someone has had a function there that was not a wedding....just remember that the wedding package and a sweet 16 package are totally different...plus its YOUR wedding so you are going to make it uniquely you, and thats whats going to make it special..not just the hall

No. I've had company dinners at very popular wedding places. They get business from everywhere.

I wouldn't worry about it. A wedding is completely event than anything else. Each catering hall on LI does events other than weddings. I think it would be impossible to find one that only did weddings.
