I can't find a band that matches my e-ring and want to have one custom made. I was told that they have to keep mine while they make it and I am not happy about this AT ALL. I don't know what to do. Would you do it?? I would figure it might take a week or two and I really do not want to be without my ring that long. Any suggestions?
eta.. I know the jeweler personally so I am not worried about them changing the center stone either so thats not a problem, but still!

i don't think i'd leave it for more than 1 day... they should definitely be able to make a mold for you in a short amount of time.

I wouldn't mind being with out it if I knew it was being worked on.. but I wouldn't trust any jewler not to replace the stone.
I actually watched my jewler re size the ring, and he said that he would be cautious of any jewler that took your ring away

No never, unless it was the same jeweler I got my E- from - I trust him.
Maybe they could take pictures, measurements or even maybe they can take a mold of your ? - just an idea.

Re: Would you agree to be without your ring?
I left mine for sizing, and my mom's band for repair. The jeweler was the one we got the e-ring from and only takes referrals, so I trusted them. My mom's ring was cut off her finger and was unwearable. The diamonds were not extremely valuable, more sentimental, but I felt fine with trusting them with it. I couldn't do anything with it as is, so I figured it would be fine.
As for being without it, I didn't mind that much, I knew I was getting it back

I would agree ONLY if I really trusted the jeweler.

mine didn't keep my ring but actually made photo copies of it
That's the only thing I would let them do - no one will keep my ring.

I wouldn't want to leave my ring. I have to have a band specially made, and I haven't asked what that will entail yet, but I definitely wouldn't be happy if they tell me I'd have to leave it for more than a day. Very unsettling.

No- I had my band custom made by elsa in farmingdale- they do fabulous work and they NEVER kept my ring. They had me sit in the back with them as they carved a wax mold based on my e-ring.
Did you get your ring back yet?? How did it come out?? I was going to use Elsa to get my ring made. How was your experience with them?? TIA!!
