Would you be a little sad...(Updated :( )

My stepsister (who just got engaged in December) and is getting married in October, but just found out that she is 6 weeks pregnant and is due the week of my wedding. She was a BM and I am not sad that she is pregnant, I am so happy for her, but I know that she will not be at my wedding. I have a very sad feeling inside, and I don't want her to think that I am upset that she is pregnant and it's taking away from my wedding, I just want her to be there... I feel bad though because I know my stepfather will want to be with her and my stepbrothers probably would want to be there with her too. I feel like a bad stepsister because I am sad when I should be happier.
I was ABSOLUTELY THRILLED until I used teh calculator to get the due date.

Re: Would you be a little sad...

Due dates are never a guarantee. I came a week earlier than estimated. You may just have another guest at your wedding

Edited to say: I was born a week early, in case anyone was thinking I had a baby (I did not)

Re: Would you be a little sad...

when one of my cousins' got married, her sister (the MOH) was due the day after the wedding. they contacted the hall to arrange to have a crib and other baby necessities brought in, in case lisa went into labor early and there was an unexpected guest at the wedding. as it turned out, she had the baby 2 weeks later!!!!! moral of my story - due dates are all over the place!!!! contact your hall and see if they can help you set up some stuff in case your sister delivers early. if not - all you have wasted is the rental fee and either way your sister can be there!!!!

Re: Would you be a little sad...

As your sister and MOH...just wanted to say 'I love you'. I will be there for you. I am ordering my dress tonight and I would not miss it for the world. You were there for me...I will be on that altar standing next to you. No matter what happens there will hundreds of other people who love you to and will be there to share your special day. I am sure she will not be delivering on Feb 29.

PS...I promise to keep my Steve far away for the next few months so the same thing doesn't happen to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Would you be a little sad...

Thanks, but I know Bob, my stepfather, will not mentally be there that day...

Re: Would you be a little sad...

I don't blame you for feeling that way. Just remeber the chances of her actually giving birth on that day are slim- so everyone else will be able to attend your wedding.

Bob will be with you mentally..don't even think that way!!! Even if she gives has the baby that day..he can drive up after the wedding and see her all week. He is walking you down the aisle, dancing with you and all that mushy stuff. He wouldn't miss it!!

Dawn beat me to it but still, don't think that Bob won't be there mentally on your day! That's not true!! Babies bring people's spirits UP, not down, so if anything, he'll be even MORE happy and more excited on your day!! Don't let this take away from you, even in your mind, because that's the only place that you're not shining!

Re: Would you be a little sad...

It has nothing to do with being a bigger'star' that day. I am just worried that if it happens that day, or even the day beofre, it'll take away from her more than taking away from me. I am sure she will want her father and her brothers with her...

You girls are so sweet!

Re: Would you be a little sad...

Thats not at all where I was going. I mean, you need to not be worrying this much about what will undoubtedly be the happiest occasion to date for your family as a whole, Tara, her baby, Bob and you and all the rest of the Brady Bunch included. And after having most of my friends have kids, chances are IF she happens to be in the hospital at the time of your wedding having given birth on or around that day, she'll be thankful for the peace and quiet of that one day (because it will be the LAST time she gets any!), and content knowing that you're dancing your booty off, the happiest girl in New York because you just got married. And besides, visiting hours usually end at 8:00 anyway -- they couldn't be in there with her after that. And she's probably home right now hoping that she can be with you on your day while you're here worrying about people being with her!

Re: Would you be a little sad...

I guess you are right. I know Bob is estatic. He loves his son's daughter so much, I can only imagine what it will be liek when his daughter has a baby!!! Its' funny, I have been keeping my nine month count down as well, and Tara get's pregnant almost to my exact day! (I just don't want to appear like a Bridezilla...I so happy for her!)

I' be a little sad too... If some of your family wants to be with her that day, can they at least come to your ceremony, then miss the reception and spend that time with her... After its all over you can get together and share your video and pictures, and you could spend time with her baby..... if this is really concerning you...when my grandma was sick in the hospital for my siterswedding we actually went there and saw her for like 2 minutes so she could see us dressed up... If shes in the hospital that day, you could always do that, but there is a great chance that she probably wont give birth on that exact day.

Re: Would you be a little sad...

I just spoke to her, she said she doesn't care how she does it, but there will be no way that she misses my wedding. She will knowin the morning exactly how far long she is. Unfortunately, she lives upstate. SO I am praying that she is miscalculating and she is further long than she originally thought.

Re: Would you be a little sad...

Don't be sad....it will all work out. I had a similar situation around my wedding. My cousin got pregnant almost exactly 9 months before my wedding date. She was supposed to be one of my BM's. She dropped out of my bridal party (which was understandable), but then she and her husband decided that they wouldn't even attend my wedding. You have NO IDEA how much this hurt me. I was one of her BMs and I was there for her during her planning, made her a special gift for her shower, held her puking head at her bachelorette party, etc. We grew up together so I was shocked by her lack of interest in my wedding day. Then I was terrified that she was going to go into labor on my wedding day, and then my aunt, uncle and cousins (her sisters) would totally blow off my wedding and go to the hospital.

The reality was - my cousin did not deliver her baby until 2 days before I came home from my honeymoon - 13 days after her expected due date.

I would be a little sad too!!! I understand being torn because you are happy for her, yet on the other hand you had a vision and a dream in your head that may not be fufilled the way you thought. Laurie I told understand.

My girlfriend had to drop out of my wedding party (early on) and it was for a really happy reason but I too was sad.

But as the girls have said due dates not cut and dry you never know!!

Re: Would you be a little sad...

Bob was so cute tonight. He kept saying that he has my wedding AND the baby to look forward to. (I am sure he will say to Tara that he has the baby AND my wedding to look forward to...) I didn't mention anything to him, and he came home tonight without my mother because she was working late. I said what happens if Tara has teh baby the same day? He goes so I will go up Monday...

What are the chances of this baby being born on Leap Year? (Sorry Leap 29, it's usually a rare occurance!)

Thank you ladies! I felt terrible before. After talking to Bob and all of you, I feel much better.

Re: Would you be a little sad...(UPDATED :( )

We found out yesterday that my step sister, in one way or another, lost the baby. She was having what the doctors call a MOLAR PREGNANCY. Instead of the cells growing in to a fetus, they grew in to a tumor. She was operated on today, and they have to be biopsied. She still might have cancer. They might have had to do a hysterectomy, but luckily everything went ok. They were originally talking about a blood transfusion, but luckily the drugs they use worked to stop the bleeding.

They also said that she can not try for another one for atleast a year. There is also a chance that she might not be able to have children at all.

I feel so bad for her...
