would you be annoyed?

would you be annoyed?

if one of your BM's told your MOH that she 'decided' that she is bringing her 3 year old to your shower?? Maybe its the mood i am in today, or maybe its this person in particular, but i think thats pretty rude. not to mention she has a 1 yr old that she has apparently 'decided' not to bring, so why cant whoevers watching the 1 yr old, watch them both??? This is also the person that thought it was a good idea to bring her then 2 1/2 yr old bm dress shopping with us, and then proceeded to yell at her the whole time we were there because, i donno, bridal reflections was not a place for a 2 1/2 yr old to be roaming around for 2 hours?

seriously? is it me? i can handle it

Pretty sure you know my thoughts.

not to mention her and her bff who also happens to be a BM are no doubt going to be chasing after her the entire day, so that should be fun.

Hmmm I guess I'm bias due to the fact that I have children and have had to bring my own children out with me. I completely understand your thoughts of the bridal shower.. I wouldn't drag my children to that if not invited and especially if my children can't behave. But if you wanted them all to go to the Bridal place and she couldn't leave her child with someone, you have to understand why she brought the child.... Or made different arrangements with her. JMHO

i COMPLETELY understand this, and if it was a issue in terms of someone watching the kids then it would not be a problem by ANY means. But the fact is she's known about this for months and has someone watching her other child. And when it came to going dress shopping, i planned that at least a month out because we all have busy lives, and her husband was home with the baby and again, she just decided she wanted to bring the 2 1/2 yr old with her for whatever reason.

I'd be annoyed. Clearly the bridal shower is not a last minute thing so she should have plenty of time to have a sitter. This is why I specifically stipulated NO KIDS at my shower! It's bad enough they'll be coming to the wedding and will reek havoc all night.
I think she needs to be spoken to about this especially if the other child will be with the sitter. I don't mean to be rude but people really need to have some decency about certain things. JMO

No, I am not a parent, but that has no bearing on the fact that I would be very annoyed.

edited to add 1 more thing:

When I am fortunate enough to have children and I cannot find a sitter for an event, I will stay home. Sure it may mean missing an event or two but why take your children somewhere they are unwanted and why subject them to the boredom? What will that child do at a shower?

Oh yeah absolutely!!! I completely agree with you over the bridal shower.. She should not by any means be bringing the toddler there. I have a 2 and a half year and i know what kind of trouble they can cause , and thats the last thing you should worry about. Plus this BM should be helping with the shower the day of not chasing the child around .

I agree with the last one. Unless there was a good enough reason for it... it's just not conducive to anything productive for that day. Taking care of kids esp of that age can be very time consuming and tireing...and really I'm not positive a bridal shower is the place for it. Unless of course you were having a bunch of kids there, which obviously isn't the case.
Good Luck! Sounds like her kids will be around for everything!

I am a parent. I would find a babysitter for events like these b/c I DIDNT want to spend the entire time chasing my hyper son. If I couldnt find a sitter, I just wouldnt go. Its not like she found out about the shower yesterday,

Re: would you be annoyed?

I think that a bridal shower is a different sort of an occasion than a baby shower... I think a bridal shower is more formal, more for adults, whereas I typically see young children at a baby shower. Perhaps in some people's minds there is no difference; shower=kids permitted. But in your case (and many brides' cases, including mine) it should be implied that unless otherwise stated, a bridal shower is for women only. None of my BM will have children but I can only imagine my mother's fury if there were uninvited toddlers wreaking havoc.

Re: would you be annoyed?

it has recently gotten even better.....

MOH sent her an email suggesting maybe she rethink her 'decision' seeing as though its not really the place for a 3 yr old and that she might be busy with other things aside from chasing after said 3 yr old all day, at which point the BM responded that it doesnt matter who is watching her 1 yr old, that she WILL be bringing her 3 yr old with her on Sunday.

HAVE YOU EVER!!!!!!! HOW OBNOXIOUS???

i seriously want to give her my 2 pennies, but i'm not even supposed to know about any of this. I am so aggravated right now.

I wouldn't care about the kid being at the shower, but I would make it CLEAR that the kids CANNOT come to the wedding. if she's pulling this crap now, she might pull it again later.

Re: would you be annoyed?

Here's my thing.. I love children.. If my BM would have said to me nicely 'hey listen I can't find a babysitter so can I please bring my child?' I would be totally fine with it....What annoys the C RAP out of me is when people DECIDE to bring their kids without even consulting us! Two of our guests DECIDED to bring their kids to my wedding even though they KNEW they weren't invited and I am FURIOUS.. They are OOT guests so I can totally empathize with them not having a babysitter (just because I don't have kids doesn't mean I am totally insensitive to their situation) but they fact that they knew they weren't invited and just put their names there without calling us and explaining the situation makes me INSANE with anger!!!!

Hmmmm, I might be a little annoyed, but only since she CAN get a sitter. If she couldn't get one at all then that would be a different story...
