Would you be mad????

Was hanging out with our friends last night(who are all couples). The one couple is my hubby's best friend. They have a daughter is going to to be 3 in a few weeks,a nd they are having a b-day party for her. We have been invited to her first and second b-day party, and last year they only invited close family and a few close friends us included.
Now I heard her talking to our other friends and talking about the party and how she was invited , and they are NOT as close with them as they are with us.
I saw the invitation on her fridge last night, and was so mad
Why werent we invited,a nd told Jay, and he was pretty disappointed. I dont know if it is a party more geared towards the kids, because the other couple has a 3 month old. So because I dont have a kid, Im NOT invited??
We are GREAT friends, so ***???
Am I overreacting???

Re: Would you be mad????

I know how you feel. We are one of the only ones of our friends that doesn't have kids and for my BF's daughter's 1st birthday she only invited people that had kids. Her reason- enough with the gifts and stuff already, she wanted Jessica to have a day to play with her friends etc. I was hurt, I still love her little girl and would have like to have been there for her.

Maybe she is just doing a kiddie party with adults to the side now that their child is turning 3. If you would still like to be there I would casually bring up X's birthday. I would say so what are you doing for X's birthday for this year. She may naturally explain it and if she doesn't just say something like, please let us know what the plan is, we loved being at the party last year.

But I would be hurt too, especially if all of this was discussed infront of you.

Re: Would you be mad????

DH's best friend doesn't invite us to their kids birthday parties b/c they are KID parties and we don't have any. It has nothing to do with how they value our friendship as we are included in many other family events but they basically give us a free pass on the b-day parties. They know that if we were invited, we would go even though we wouldnt have a great time in a house filled with kids.

Since this is bothering you, I tell your friend but her reasoning may be along these lines.

IMO...if you are such good friends...why not just ASK HER???? maybe there is a simple reason...

My cousin had a b-day party for her son...my brother was invited (with wife and baby), but me and my sister (no kids) were not. When I inquired why....I was told that they only invited people with kids. I was like whatever...no big deal...at least I don't have to buy a gift

I would be annoyed. Is the 3 month old really going to interact with the rest of the kids at the party???? If I were you, I would definately say something!

I agree, and they are not that close with them as they are with us.

like someone said, at least I dont have to buy a gift
I think I feel a little better. Thanks ladies
