Would you be mad at me ?

One of my bm's is getting married in Oct . ( I am not in the wedding party ) she had her bridal shower today and I couldn't attend I had work.
I called and lm and sent her an email to explain and she has not responded. I feel bad but I couldn't get off from work.
Would you be mad?

Honestly, yeah, I think I'd be a little .... and not too to do things for you & your wedding next year.

Didn't you know about the shower at least a few weeks in advance, if not longer?

well does it suck? yea...but **** happens and people can't just up and leave their job no matter how much they would like to. I am a retail store manager so I work ALOT and my schedule needs to be flexible to meet the needs of the business and sometimes even the needs of other stores besides my own in the district...so I totally understand how sometimes its just not possible.

I waited until I knew she was home from the shower.

yea.. I would be mad.. I would feel like if I was important enough to be your bridesmaid.. I should be important enough for you to MAKE SURE you had off on a special day for me. JMO

I'd be upset at first, but I would understand. Make sure you get her a really thoughtful card and gift.

I would understand if you couldn't get off of worked. In the past I have had to miss things because of work..it stinks. I'm sure she will understand

I sent her flowers .... they should be there in the morning and I sent a nice card. I am seeing her next week so I will give her the gift then.

I feel really bad and now reading the replies I feel worse.... I work for Geico and we are always open even on xmas ! Is super hard to get off.

Not everyone can just take off of work when they feel like it. I would NEVER be mad because someone had to work. I think it's inconsiderate to expect everyone to just put their lives on hold for you. Don't worry if she is a real friend she will get over it by tomorrow. Hope it works out!

you had to work, that is a valid reason NOT to attend, especially because if you need to take days off, im sure you want to save them for your own wedding

people have to understand these things and realized that just because one person is getting married, the rest of the world does not stand still

i would not be upset

My Aunt and a GM both work for Geico and put in NOW for our wedding next April. So, I know it can be a pain and I probably wouldn't be mad. My BM couldn't make my e-party b/c her god sons communion was the same day and I understood. Sometimes things come up or you can't get off work- it happens

I would be disappointed but not mad. As for her not calling you back, maybe she was just really busy. After all, she probably has a lot of persents to go through and unpack into her house/apartment/etc.... I wouldn't stress about it. Call her tomorrow and apologize once again and offer to make it up to her by taing her out to lunch or something like that.

i would be disappointed too.. but not so mad. i'd get over it. especially if you're sending her flowers and getting her a gift.. as long as you show her you wanted to be there but couldn't.. thats all that matters!
