Would you be mad at me ?

Original post by Skeeter

One of my bm's is getting married in Oct . ( I am not in the wedding party ) she had her bridal shower today and I couldn't attend I had work.
I called and lm and sent her an email to explain and she has not responded. I feel bad but I couldn't get off from work.
Would you be mad?

If you had work how could someone be upset with you. I know of a few poeple that have gotten mad at people because they couldn't attend the shower - -and I never understood why. Sometimes people can't make an event...that's life. I am sure she's not mad.............she probably was really busy and will email you as soon as she gets the chance.

I agree, I wouldn't be angry if you had to work. That's a legitimate excuse.

ok.. so I've thought about it.. (crazy that LIW is what I think about when I sign off).. and I feel like I wouldn't be so much mad.. as I would be sad that you couldn't be there.. and I'm sure she will get over it.. if she hasn't already.. it's not like you didn't go because you just wanted to go shoe shopping or something.. you had work..

why did you tell her the day of???? that's where i would be upset b/c she probably had to pay for your plate.

i would assume she RSVP'd to whomever was hosting the party and then called, IM'd and emailed later on?? possibly after she knew it was over as to not ruin the surprise beforehand

I think I would be upset at first and then get over it. But I am a very forgiving person.

you had to work, that is a valid reason NOT to attend, especially because if you need to take days off, im sure you want to save them for your own wedding

people have to understand these things and realized that just because one person is getting married, the rest of the world does not stand still

i would not be upset

I agree completely!

I hear a lot of people using the word 'forgive', Like, 'I would forgive you'

Honestly, I dont think it is anything that needs to be forgiven, but more that it needs to be 'Understood'

I would be upset at first, but if I knew that she really couldn't make it and had a valid excuse, I would understand and get over it.

To be honest I would. I think the fact that you emailed her...makes it a little impersonal...at least for me. A call would have been better.

But what done is done. And maybe letting her know when you see her that her wedding is important to you. That you will be there for everything else and just couldn't get this day off. Then maybe you can help her with thank you cards or something

I agree, it's not about being forgiven. More about just having to understand that you couldn't get the day off

I know how hard it is to get off from work. Ive missed so many things that I wish I hadnt but I couldnt get off from work. I would completely understand but I guess someone has to be in the same situation as you to understand how hard it can be to get the day off...I hope everything works out and you spoke to her in person about it.

I might be a little annoyed at first, but I think I would understand. I work alot too and work is hard sometimes. i think you sending a email, flowers, a card and having a gift is ok!!
Maybe she is just busy!

I'd be upset at first, but I would understand. Make sure you get her a really thoughtful card and gift.
