Would you be mad if...

you told FH that your mom's dress was maroon and he told his mom, and then he came home and told you she bought an EGGPLANT colored dress. He says they are 2 different colors but in my opinion, they are WAY too close on the color wheel. She could have picked ANY other color.

my mom got a silver/platinum dress, FMIL saw my moms dress...
FMIL sends me a pict when she got her dress and its dark silver....


i was upset and i forwarded the pict to my mom and she said it was nice and looked totally different from her dress, so if she is ok with it why am I upset.....

i just think its wrong but what can you do....

we will see how it all plays out this saturday!!!!!!

i didnt care about any of these things such as what color ppl should wear, i even convinced MIL to buy a champagne dress and she didnt want to wear it bc of the color but it was gorgeous and perfect for her, it took some convincing but she finally went with it, but i know alot of other girls do care. Does your mom care? is she upset? and the colors can be pretty different though, have you seen the dress? They might look completely different.

In the end, on your day i can safely say that the last thing on your mind will be the color of their dresses. It wont matter at all and nobody would think anything either. Nobody is gonna stop and say 'OMG their dresses are similar in color'

honestly i also just thought about the colors and i dont think theyre THAT similar.


one is in the red family and the other is in the violet family.

ahhh didnt come out but yeah they are pretty different. One is purple and the other is a dark red

i would not be mad at all.

both my mom and mil wore brown.

to be honest, i never understood why it matters if they wear the same color or not.

it wouldn't bother me... as long as the dress compliments them!

Yes, I would be annoyed. However it is not worth your energy.

maroon is deep red
eggplant is deep purple

no, i would not care about that - inconsequential to me and the guests couldnt care less either

I haven't seen either dress and I know that sometimes the two colors can be similar depending on what that manufacturer considers 'eggplant' or 'maroon'. They are both in the same color family. I see both points and I havent even told my mom yet, I was just a tad bit annoyed since there are soooooooooo many other colors to choose from.

i see youre upset but honestly if this is the biggest problem in wedding planning then its pretty good. Hopefully they will be different but no matter it wont make a difference. There are alot worse things that can happen. Just focus on the positive things associated with this wedding and not these things bc none of this will make or break your day. I am attending a wedding in 2 weeks and just found out the brides dad died 3 weeks ago, i felt so horrible to find this out. I know some think that why compare the two but maybe its to see how small some problems really are, and in the grand scheme of things its not even an issue. 3 months before my wedding my dad had a heart attack and was in the hospital for a month, the week before our wedding dh's grandmother was in the hospital. Be happy for what you do have.

Alls i can say is at least your FMIL got a dress... I bet mine will get hers on Nov 1st..... Shes such a procrastinator.

It really wasn't that big of an issue. I never said this was the biggest issue of the wedding, lol. That would be ridiculous.

Thanks for the replies, I was just curious if that would annoy anyone a little bit. I understand that some people have much bigger problems during planning and I wish them the best. I would NEVER compare a dress color issue to someone's unfortunate family illness.

This was just one of those curiousity questions... I probably wont even end up saying anything to her at all about it.

LOL, like some said, im sure it will be the last thing on your mind, your wedding is SO CLOSE!!! I totally see where you're coming from tho!
