would you be ok with a pregnant BM having a different dress?

would you be ok with a pregnant BM having a different dress?

Ok, so I just found out I am pregnant last week. I'm in my friends wedding in July, which means I'll be about 6 months pregnant. She knows that we were trying and is totally ok with the fact that I may have been pregnant for her wedding. But here's the problem.... all of the BM are wearing the same dress. Although the dress is very pretty, there's no way I'm going to be confortable and look like anything short of a sausage in it. It's strapless, tight and fishtails at the bottom. I am going to ask her if she would mind if I order a maternity dress in the same color. Now, the maternity dresses are chiffon and the BM dresses are satin, so they may be a little off. Would you be ok with your friend being a little different and huge and pregnant?

Oh, here are some pics. The first of the BM dress, and then 2 maternity ones.

I have been to a wedding where a BM did just what you are thinking. Nobody saw a problem with it and I thought it looked just fine.

I would definitely be fine with it and would want you to be comfortable.

I would be fine w/ it, most important would be having you be in it. (My best friend just told me she'll be 7 mo. preggos, but unfortunately may not be able to even make my wedding b/c she's in TX & her dr. is not pushing her flying.... --I'd let her wear any dress just so she'd be able to be in it.... Another bm may also be pregnant, but our dress is a 2 piece so it should be okay.

I'd ask the bride, I'm sure she'll be fine and CONGRATS by the way!!!

Mazel tov!
I think it's fine for a PG BM to wear a different dress. Obviously you should talk to your friend, the bride about it, but I can't imagine anyone in their right mind asking a 6-month pregnant woman to wear that dress. Same fabric, same color seems like the best idea. And maybe something with a similar neckline (straight across, but with straps?) and the same length. I like the bottom one you posted.

If it were my wedding I would prefer you wear a dress that fits you apprpriately. I think it is fine. That brown one is so cute!

If one of my BMs were pregnant, I would absolutely be okay with her wearing a slightly different dress so that she would be more comfortable. I love the second dress; I can see that the one that the other girls will be wearing would NOT be comfortable for you.

eta - CONGRATULATIONS

Thanks girls! I really like the purple dress, but it really doesn't go well with the BM dresses. I think I will show my friend the brown dress and ask her if she would be ok if I switch to that one. And by the way, the BM dresses, and the brown one, would be in stone- the color that the BM dress is shown in.

congrats!
As for your question I would not mind, I would be happy that one of my bridesmaids was pregnant and still willing to be there for me on my special day. Besides, the dresses are sooo adorable!!

Congratulations!!!

I would not mind a BM of mine wearing a different dress. I def do not think you would be comfortable in the current dress. I would def talk to the bride and see what she says. I would want my BMs to be comfortable.

I am in the same situation with one of my BM. Do you mind if I ask who makes the purple dress?? It is beautiful!

I would be fine with whatever my BM is most comfortable in.

Congratulations on your BABY!!!!!!

I would be completely okay with it (although I'd go with the brown dress over the purple, just so that you're not *too* different).

Shut up!! You're pregnant? Congrats!!

OMG no more funny responses on the obnoxious 'are you preggo' questions threads on NW!

Many blessings for a healthy baby!!

And about the dress, I would be OK and was OK with my MOH wearing a different dress (she wore cocktail lenght) post partum - I just wanted her to be there and be comfortable.

Congrats!!!!!! I would be fine if my BM wore a different dress. My sister is trying to get pregnant so I already told her it's whatever she wants to do.
