Would you be ok with your FH/DH having female friends?

Original post by Munchkn16

My FH has a ot of female friends, and I'm not sure how to feel about it. Two of them are married with kids. I knw them both and like them. One is younger than me, single, and very cute. I know he loves me, and I trust him. But still, it's kind of strange for me to hear him say that he's going to hang out with them, particularly the young single one.

Am I nuts? Not sure how to aproach this, if at all.

My FH dosent really have female friends...hes a guys guy. Since we went to college together any girls he was friends with are my friends also. He is friends with all my GF's...but there isnt like a female friend he'd call and chat with or go to dinner with or whatever just not his thing I guess.
I have guy friends who are all friends with FH now.

You gotta trust him! But I'd be a little suspect if he was spending lots of time with ONE specific person... but he works with women, so its not like he can ignore them!

Yes, and I have guy friends but it's easier for me to say that because I've never had to deal with a situation where anyone tried anything funny or where I've been cheated on. I might feel differently if I had.

I know i'm going to get attacked for this one....i'm prepared..lol....but i honestly don't believe guys and girls can be 'best friends'. ok i'm ready for it! lol I think that one person always wants something more....that's meaning that 1 or both are single. If both are in a relationship i guess it's a little different, but i just don't believe it's natural. I think someone always wants more...

not attacking....but i have heard Alot of people say the same thing......one of my best friends is a guy. we have been friends since kindergarten and never has anoything other than a friendship....he lioves in oregon now and is married with a baby on the way....we have shared a bed ( not sexually lol like i said we never did anything) seen eachotehr practically naked but have always been friends hes more like a brother and people never believe that we have always JUST BEEN FRIENDS but it can be done lol....i can definatly see why people say you can't be! but there are some people who can

i agree it can be done - i have one guy friend that i love - he lives with his g/f now in the city and i live with FH in staten island - we dont hang out a lot anymore but we still keep in touch and get together once in awhile - he was one of my bestest friends ever growing up and i dont think there was ever any sexual tension or awkwardness between us - on the other hand i did end up kissing a lot of my other close guy friends through the years and developing weird crushes on them or they had a crush on me at some point - i still get together with the group once in awhile and its kind of a joke that i made out with all of them - luckily FH is cool about it, but i would never hang out with any of them alone, one on one for long periods of time.....go to dinner to catch up - yes - hang out with them as much as i hang out with my girlfriends/sisters - nope - just out of respect for FH and for their SO's as well

FH has many female friends. He goes out every other friday (payday) w/ his co-workers & most of them are girls (teacher). He also has female friends from childhood/HS that he stays in touch with (well, somewhat). As long as he's upfront w/ them, from the beginning, I'm ok w/ it. Like the other girls are saying, some of them talk to me more than him now!

i think its normal and good to have a mix of friends - and different groups of friends....but if FH was hanging out with ONE girl, alone, and frequently it would bug the crap out of me no matter who she was im just being honest hahaha - i would be suspicious and insecure i think....

ETS: i keep editing my posts because of bad grammar and spelling and writing half sentences - i keep having brain farts today!

FH has many female friends from college and I'm totally fine with it. I also have many male friends, some of whom I've dated/fooled around with and FH knows about them all. He gets along with all of them and he understands that all of the things that happened between us are all in the past.

We trust one another completely.

agreed...i have a friend whom i've been friends with for many years and he's like a second brother to me...and im like a sister to him...we both care for each other as friends but in a romantic way we both have said it would be too weird..we both agree that we relate to each other in a 'family sort of way' so I agree there are people who can 'just be friends'

My FH had one friend in college that he saw everyday and it used to bother me but we ended up meeting and became really good friends. Now she is one of the BM's in our wedding. Remember he loves you and try to trust your instincts. Only you know if theres a reason for you to not trust him.

Umm, it definitely depends..

FH has lots of girl friends that he hangs out with...most of them, I am okay with. they are nice to me and respect our relationship.

ONE of them- I don't like. They've been friends since they were little and I think she always had a thing for him. He never had one for her. When we got engaged, she called his phone and I answered and she said 'uhh hi, I NEED to talk to Vinny!' so I pass him the phone and I can hear her yelling 'are you crazy, you got engaged? why is she answering your phone already??!, you need to think about this!' He didn't speak to her for a long time. She's since apologized, but I still don't like the biotch

DH has always been that 'nice guy' that is friends with girls. he has a bunch of female friends...no biggie. however i won't lie---i wanted to meet them all at least once to see who they were.....after that...no worries.

Re: Would you be ok with your FH/DH having female friends?

It depends. When we were dating, I always put them (fh and girl) to a test. If he acts different around her compared to how he acts around his homeboys, then its a No-go! If she acts catty or you catch her daydreaming/star gazed look while looking at your fh, then bet your azz that it is a No-go!

And believe me i watch one of his friends, fail the test miserably. One of his friends lives in Oklahoma and she came to visit him to NY for the first time. She had a boyfriend back at home and the two of them had a big argument before they arrived in NY. When we met up with her, her boyfriend left to meet up with his homeboy and she told us why her boyfriend didn't come. Her boyfriend was upset because he believes that his girl had a crush on my fh. She had actually told us while we were all sitting in the car. I already had that assumption a long time ago before i had even met her. That evening, I just sat back and put on my most calmest face and just sat back and watched. The three of us went to dinner that night and she was real friendly to both of us. In the middle of the conversation, she had asked what do i do to him in bed. But she played it off as if it was a joke. Near the end, we drove her back to her hotel and she had asked my fh to walk her back to her hotel room. But since he was driving, i had volunteered to walk her back to her room to make sure she got in safe. She told me 'No, I want 'FH name' to walk me back. I looked at my fh, which turned around tand looked at his friend in shock and told her that he couldn't go because their is no parking around the hotel and that she should be safe going to her room by herself. That was the last of that b*tch. Funny thing is that she never calls him now. When we spoke about it that night, he was shocked that she asked him to do that.

Re: Would you be ok with your FH/DH having female friends?

FH has always said that when a guy is friends with a girl it is only for 1 reason. So needless to say.. he has no friends that are female. He says there is no reason for it. If he tried to become friends with a female... that would be the end of our relationship.

When I was younger I thought it was fine. I had a ton of guy friends and thought they were just that 'friends'. One by one they all made their intentions very clear. I had one male friend for over 4 years... never thought he was anything more then a friend. Turns out... he thought we were soul mates and one day I would realize that he is the one for me So, I honestly believe (only because of my own experiences) that it is not ok.
