if your FIL's bought a new truck and only gave you $1000 for your rehearsal dinner towards your wedding. Yet FH and I and my parents are killing ourselves to pay for this wedding. I am so mad!! Yet they ask me if I can add more people to the list....uh yea NO!

I wouldn't be upset either. I don't really feel either of our families are obligated to pay for any of our wedding.
But, I do believe that we have final say when it comes to guests

Re: Would you be PO'ed
No. my FILs havent offered to help w/ anything at all for the wedding, not the RD or anything. So, in my case, 1000, Id be very appreciative!!! My parents are paying for just about everything, aside from all the help we are trying to offer.

Re: Would you be PO'ed
nah wouldn't bother me. its their money and they can do whatever they want with it. maybe its cause DH and i paid for our wedding all on our own and didn't want help from others. (my parents gave a generous gift at the very end, but everything was all us from the beginning)
sometimes you just can't watch what others are spending and saying 'why aren't WE getting more of your money?'

they gave us 1000.. they have THREE houses and all the spare money in the world... my parents live check to check and gave more then that but allowed us to have a total say in our wedding noone could hold money over our head since we basically paid for it all ourselves

Re: Would you be PO'ed
I would be!! I agree with the girls on here that say they don't have expectation for their parents to pay for anything, but when you and your parents are busting your butts trying to pay for the wedding and the ILs don't help at all and get a new truck, I would be very PO'd. I am sure there are things that your parents want to buy but don't because they are helping you.

Re: Would you be PO'ed
An 06er crashing.... I have to be honest and say I would not be PO'd. The in laws are not obligated to pay into anything. It would be a nice gesture if they did though. Was it $1000 as your wedding gift or towards wedding expenses? Either way, I think that is nice of them. DH and I paid for our wedding entirely and I would never dream of being mad at my parents or the IL's for not giving us money towards it. JMHO

Re: Would you be PO'ed
Wow. Well I can say I never asked my FIL's to help us. I saw the look of a deer caught in the headlights when we told his parents were are getting married.
My parents are helping us out. Besides my parents wouldn't here of it. I'm their only daughter, so you know how that goes. I love my parents so much!!!

Re: Would you be PO'ed
I'm torn. My DH's parents didn't help with the wedding AT ALL. But my MIL did buy us pretty expensive pots and pans, and besides that there are other things that make up for the monetary factors. WE paid for our wedding AND rehearsal dinner, even though it was at my husbands parents home. It's the little things that count. If your going to think about money, and who contributes...... Your setting youself up for NOTHING but disappointment. Ya get what ya get, and ya don't get upset. TRUST me!!! After our wedding was all said and done, we didn't even break even. Now thats sad!!

Re: Would you be PO'ed
I'm with the girls who said that neither your parents nor your inlaws are obligated to give you any money. In my experience, parents and inlaws have worked hard all their lives, and are entitled to do nice things for themselves as they get older. I was very grateful for any money that we recieved, and it did not cross my mind to become angry with our parents for not giving us more money.

Re: Would you be PO'ed
I wouldn't be mad. FH and I are paying for everything from the rehersal dinner to the wedding to the breakfast the next day because this is what we want to spend our money on. My wedding shouldn't be a reason for someone else to not spend there hard earned money on something they want.
I would be happy if anyone wanted to give me a thousand dollars towards my wedding.

Re: Would you be PO'ed
well, i guess I wouldnt complain if my FIL's gave me a 1000, regarding that they arent giving us a dime towards the wedding, my parents decided to pay for the whole thing and told me not to say anything until after the wedding.

Re: Would you be PO'ed
did they pay cash in full for the truck or financing?\ Did they really need a new car?
I ask because its easier financially to make a monthly payment then to come up with a big chunk of money.
I dont think I would be mad.. esp if they needed and deserved a new car.
