We got the wedding invitation for FH's friend in the mail yesterday and it was only addressed to him instead of both of us. Then on the inside envelope, they only wrote our first names, but then spelled my name wrong!! And both of the people getting married are teachers!!
Now normally I don't give a crap about this kind of stuff, and maybe I was put off because I'm hormonal. BUT his friend and FW know I live with him, they've met me already, and you would think they would want to get the names right! I didn't even address their invite yet because I didn't have her last name.
FH doesn't understand why I was a little perturbed about this. Would you be?

They may have been in a rush to get the invitations out, I would give them the benefit of the doubt

nope. let it roll off. it's really not a big deal. they were probably rushing or stressed or.. whatever it is it's nothing to fuss over.

Re: Would you be put off?
I would probably be a little upset about living with him and my name not being on the outer envelope, but I am so used to my name being misspelled that it doesn't faze me anymore.

Yes, I would be annoyed. Not only do you live with him, but you are marrying him in three months. When I do my adressing, if someone has a fiance, he or she will be included on the outside envelope, regardless if they are living together. I think when a couple is engaged they are 'officially together' and should be stated as such on invitations, etc.

Re: Would you be put off?
I was invited to a friends wedding and my name was on the outside and on the inside envelope my friend put both our first names, now granted she didn't spell them wrong, but I saw nothing wrong with that. Is your name a hard name to spell or is it really simple? I wouldn't really feel to upset about it, I mean you don't know what else could be possibly going on with her wedding plans maybe she was just stressed and not thinking, maybe someone else addressed her envelopes. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Nah, I wouldn't make too much of it.
Just misspell their name when you send their invitation.

i'd let it go...even though they misspelled your name, at least your name was included in the inside envelope.

Re: Would you be put off?
I would be a little annoyed especially because they know you and your FH well. That's happened to us a few times at family parties! After 1 year of dating and meeting my FH atleast 100 times the placecard would always say 'Santina & Guest'. Did they think I was planning on showing up with someone else? Hopefully now that we're engaged he'll get his name on one of those placecards lol In all seriousness some people just don't care for details as much as others, so even though it bothers u i would still go to the party especially if it's important to FH

Re: Would you be put off?
It definately would have annoyed me. Especially since all they had to do was call and say' hey, I'm doing my invitations, how do you spell your first and last name, so I get it right' Thats the RIGHT thing to do. I'd be pissed. But atleast you got an invite.

it would annoy me too - i know that by the time you get through the hundreds of names you tend to make mistakes even with people you know very well - but i'd still be a bit miffed

I wouldn't worry about it. I personally don't like the way 2 separate names look on the outside of an envelope. I prefer the one name on the outside. As long as your name was on the inside I wouldn't really care about it. We all try to make invites perfect but i'm sure we will all make 1 or 2 mistakes.

I wouldn't be upset about it. It's FH's friend, which I assume is a man, and he probably gave his FW the information incorrectly. That's my guess.

no, good lord no. I would not care in the least. I don't feel slighted by these things. Maybe both your first and last names didn't fit on the label or looked too long together on the envelope....
how badly did they misspell your name...did they forget the second N, or did they call you Joanna or something...

Re: Would you be put off?
I wouldn't get upset. Sometimes its too wordy to put the couples name if you arent married. I get invites all the time from my family with my name and just my FH first name or mine & guest. I also just gotten invites with just my name. I dont think it was a personal attack, especially since they included your name on the inside envelope.

Re: Would you be put off?
It would annoy me, especially since you two are living together. But honestly, in the whole scheme of things, don't let it bother you too much. It's just not worth dwelling on.

Re: Would you be put off?
It would annoy me because i'm so careful about those kind of things. My best friend spelled my FH's last name wrong on her wedding invitation even though she called me for it 3 times. Pay attention and put a little effort into it people!!!!
