Would you be someones mistress?

Original post by wacky

My friend and I were speaking this morning and she was saying how at 30 yrs old one would of thought she would be at a different place

I said to her if I didnt get married or ever meet the one, at this stage of the game. I would date married men. I feel the older you get who the hell needs the headaches. You do as you please and have someone help you out.

I sound like a hussy, but thats how I feel

I agree with Michele.
Hitting 30 is by no means the end of hope. However, getting into a relationship that is going nowhere is definitley lowering your chances. And also, what does that do to one's self esteem?
TO know you are the woman on the side? Never to be taken seriously as a wife? Or never to be shown in public?

I have to say, I could never do this.

I know someone in a situation like this, and it is not pretty. All the drama for someone who will never leave his wife. You're contributing to someone's else's pain or misfortune, and you're not doing yourself justice either.
All the money, gifts in the world will not take the place of self respect.

OK - off my soapbox now

I can't say that I would, but I also can't say that I wouldn't...just being honest

Re: Would you be someones mistress?

I really thought about this when i first saw the post - and my immediate response was NO WAY - and then i thought some more -

I have been attracted to older men that were married - so i cant honestly say NO WAY -

I dont know what I would do if I was in that position of being single and not finding someone else that was single to be compatable with-

My view is that if a guy will cheat on his wife to be with you then he will cheat on you to be with another woman - but i guess there are always exceptions -

This question is definitely a thinker!

I still think I would. If at a point in my life where I couldnt be bothered with the BS and was content and wanted something with no strings attached, Id do it

Wacky, how could you feel that way if you are married. What if someone else felt that way towards your husband. I'm not saying he would cheat on you but even the fact taht some lady had her eyes on my FH I would HIT THE ROOF. I understand that after 30 it gets harder (oh trust me I understand!) but being with a married man is just not cool, IMO. Someone is always bound to get hurt.

Re: Would you be someones mistress?

I would like to automatically say that I would never, ever in a million years date a married man, but having dated someone who was technically married, although separated, for 2 years when I was younger, I guess I've already done it! I know that's not what you meant, but I don't think I could really answer the question...so often in life we think about how we would handle a situation or what our ideals are, but when the time comes, we frequently don't act the way we always expected we would. So while I would assume that I never would, as I would hate to be the woman married to a man with a mistress, I don't have a crystal ball. My gut instinct, though, is that I wouldn't do it.

at 30 no, closer to 40... well maybe. If he had kids, no way.

Maribelle when I said mistress I meant the mistress of a rich and powerful man not my salaried man that I love dearly
