One of my very best friends just got engaged (I am her MOH) and her ring is exactly like mine, only a smaller version. Am I being a terrible friend that it bothers me a bit? Of course I haven't said anything (and would never), but am I normal?

No. But if she starts picking the same vendors, styles/colors of things, or the same dresses, then I would be a little annoyed.

I don't think you should be upset by this. You did say her's is smaller...so you win!

There are only so many different types of cuts and settings. I wouldn't care, actually I would be flattered. If you both have similar tastes then it's understandable that she would have something similar.
I don't think you should be upset at all.

Do you think it was intentional? Hey atleast yours is bigger Try not to let it bug you, but I can understand why you are annoyed.

Re: Would you be upset?
hmmm, i think it would depend if your FH picked something out that was unique, e.g., a one of a kind estate piece or soemthing to that effect, then if your MOH's FH had it copied to a tee, then yes, I would say that it's valid if it ticked you off a little. On the other hand, if you had a tiffany solitaire, then no, since it is such a popular ring. Think of it this way, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery right?

Re: Would you be upset?
I honestly wouldn't be upset and i don't want to tell you what you should feel... but i just think there are other things to worry about. I would let it go and try not to let it bother you. Besides, she probably mentioned to her fiance how much she loved your ring and he decided to get it based on that. Consider it a compliment and how can you get annoyed with her... she didn't buy it, her boyfriend did.

You are best friends and like the same things, I'm sure she has admired your ring and loved it so much she had to have one like it.
Girl, it's very flattering. I would not be annoyed. She obviously has great taste, right?

No, I mean, it's not like she told her FH 'I want a ring just like Katie's', right?

I would be alittle annoyed honestly. I can't explain why, but I understand.

I wouldn't be annoyed or upset at all. maybe she said something to her bf that if they ever got engaged she wanted a ring just like yours. I would be flattered.

Re: Would you be upset?
nope--wouldn't bother me at all. even if her ring was exactly like yours right down to every detail and size--who cares? your ring is YOUR RING...it's unique and special because your FH gave it to you.

Re: Would you be upset?
Sweetie, I went through the same thing. First, my BM got engaged and decided to get married BEFORE me, then, my FBIL gets engaged...I hear the ring is similar to mine...you think Im going to congratulate him when I see him? NOOOOT. Call me a b i t c h or whatever but thats how I fell now and probably will feel this way for a while.

I would be a little annoyed too. Selfish, I know but I still would.

Re: Would you be upset?
I think it depends on the style. If yours was a really unique, antique ring or something, that's odd (or if it has sapphires or something unique). If yours is a solitaire of any shape, or a three stone of any type, there are millions of girls out there with your exact ring, so I wouldn't think anything of it.

Re: Would you be upset?
I understand your feelings but they'll pass as you put it into perspective-you've got your man she's got hers and people are going to have similar rings-if not the same.
And you don't 'win' by having a bigger ring. That's a fools game.
Let it go and enjoy seeing your friend truly happy.
