One of my very best friends just got engaged (I am her MOH) and her ring is exactly like mine, only a smaller version. Am I being a terrible friend that it bothers me a bit? Of course I haven't said anything (and would never), but am I normal?

Re: Would you be upset?
I would be a little bummed but it's true what everyone is saying-- at least yours is bigger LOL!! That's so bad to say hahaha. I would test her... with your wedding plans tell her a few things that you don't care about if she copies and then see if she does. If she does, then be very tight lipped about info that you give her otherwise next thing you know she'll have all the same of those little things that make your wedding YOUR wedding. If she asks about things be very vague and say I'm not sure yet to a lot of things-- hopefully that will help and will avoid your weddings being carbon copies of eachother! All in all, I'm sure both will be very nice and unique in their own ways this way!

Thanks for everyone's insight. I'm really trying not to be selfish, but for some reason I'm just bothered by it. I think because her whole life she wanted a princess cut stone with baquettes on the side and then all of a sudden after I started talking about wanting a round center stone with pave-set round stones on the side (which is what I have) she changed her mind. And she only got engaged about 7 or 8 weeks after me so some of our common friends are seeing us at the same time for the first time after being engaged and they are like 'Oh your rings are the same!'
Oh well. My guy is cuter.

Re: Would you be upset?
If my friend gets the same ring that I have I would be so happy because she is my friend. I would be flattered. Any thing that makes my girls happy makes me happy.

No. But if she starts picking the same vendors, styles/colors of things, or the same dresses, then I would be a little annoyed.
That's exactly what I think.

Re: Would you be upset?
No, not at all.
My FI proposed to me a week after his brother proposed to his girlfriend (who is also a good friend of mine) and the two guys picked out the same ring, except she has a princess cut and I have a round one.
I thought she was going to be upset since we stole their thunder, but the two of them were great about everything.
That's when you know someone is your friend, when they are truly happy for you.

I would be a little bothered too. What really annoys me are girls who try to act all riteous like they're above getting annoyed at such trivial things. Listen- it sounds like you had your heart set on your style ring and there's nothing wrong with feeling a twinge of something over your friend getting the same exact one. Some people don't mind having the same thing as everyone else, while others like to be a little unique. In the big scheme of things, are there other more important things to worry about? Of course! But don't think you're abnormal for wanting to be the only one to have your style ring in your circle of friends.

OH YEAH that would DEFINITELY bother me because that adds a whole other level to it b/c if all she ever wanted was the other way, yikes!! oh i'm sorry that stinks! but you know what? when people say it's the same say something like, yeah I noticed that when 'her name' got her ring-- I'm very flattered!! AND THAT'S IT! LOL I'm so bad!!!

Mine was custom made from a drawing, so if any one of my friends copied it I would be fuming!
