Your FMIL still hasn't gotten her dress yet 2 months before her only son's wedding.....
but she has a back-up dress from JCPenny??? Do they actually sell Formal Dresses? I am not very sure.....

She hasn't gone dress shopping yet but she has one in mind from JC Penney? Does it look like a mother of the groom dress?
I must say I would be a little upset but that's just me. If the dress from JC Penney looks formal enough than I probably would not be upset.

My FMIL still hasn't gotten her dress and I'm 3 weeks after you. Am I concerned.....slightly. However, I don't doubt for a second that she will get something beautiful. It is her son's wedding and I'm sure she's going to find a beautiful dress. You'd be surprised what you can buy off the rack at the dept stores like Macys, Bloomies, Nordstroms, Lord and Taylors. My mom got her's at Macys and it's GORGEOUS. That's where my FMIL plans on going too.

My mom got her dress for my brother's wedding at Lord and Taylor and it was so pretty. You can find nice dresses there.

I don't want anyone to think I am being snotty...I just didn't realize that they sell Formal dresses....
She hasn't even asked me once if I wanted to go shopping with her...or asked me to come over and see the back up one....

I swear I just posted! When my mom told me she woudl find something at MAcy's I was like what?!?!?!? But she got a gorgeous dress there today. So, now, I would not be worried. Honestly, my mom made the right decision, the other dresses were $700 or mor before alterations and she got this for $67!!!

Don't feel bad, when FH's mom was going shopping for her dress, she did not ask me to go either.

Don't sweat it, My own Mom and FMIL didn't get dresses until a week ago, 4 weeks before the wedding. I felt bad at first but then realized that I had enough stuff to stress over. In the end they'll get it done. FMIL won't even show me her dress, , silly right, but whatever, I told FH as long as it's not white or Ivory I could care less what it looks like.

Ok I have to comment on this to help you feel better... my wedding is in 20 days and my FMIL still hasn't got her dress!!! Well whatever, it's her stress not mine, I've got enough to do! My own mom just got hers a week ago. So don't worry, I'm sure your FMIL will get in gear and find one soon!

My mom got her dress about 1 month before the wedding...she had NO clue what she wanted-what color...nothing. Dont worry-if she has a back up I wouldnt be too worried

Try to remain calm, its the only way you will survive your wedding, just figure this, she has to wear something that day & Im sure she will look wonderful the day of your wedding, just focus on you and your FH and your wedding plans, take it from a current past bride, dont sweat the small stuff and the things you cannot control, all will fall into place perfect. Good luck with the rest of your planning

personally I wouldn't be mad, but when it came to my wedding I was really laid back about things.

I have to though cuz I'm in the same predicament...my problem is, she lives in South Carolina. We've traded emails of pictures...but she just can't find anything. And it's a MONTH AWAY! She has way more on her mind than this though- lots of stuff she has to work out before she can even deal with a dress right now.
Your FMIL will find something!!! let it be the least of your worries!! I'm sure she cares enough to look her best!!!

My mom bought about 10 dresses before deciding on one. She got several GORGEOUS dresses, very formal, and very expensive from Lord & Taylor. I'm sure JC Penney has lovely dresses.
She's an adult - I'm sure she's more than capable of dressing herself. Don't worry about what she wears!
ETA - Trust me, in the grand scheme of things, what your FMIL wears to your wedding is so unimportant. Just let her be.
And she doesn't have to take you dress shopping. My mom didn't take either of my SILs dress shopping for their weddings and I didn't go with my FMIL.
