its just worrying me that FH is afraid she will be upset and he doesnt want to make her cry.....he said he doesnt know how she will react........i told him that i cant see how she could be that upset - its a night out for her and its OUR wedding and they should respect that AND they didnt have ANY children at their wedding either - so they should be understanding.....i think FH thinks its bad b/c its his nephew/godson and i think he is afraid of what his parents might say about it.....

I don't know how your FH or his family is, but my FH felt there would be people that would be upset about not inviting kids to the wedding. He was most afraid of his sister's reaction. The resolution for us was to put the kids in the BP (they are older, will be 6 & 9). As it turns out after speaking to FSIL myself, she would have been totally ok if we had not invited her children. I am sure FSIL will understand. I assume based on your wedding date that your godson is under a year old. By the time he hits the 'terrible twos' they may really be looking for an adult night out!

There will be people that will be upset you just have to be okay with that.

i didnt think it was a big deal but FH is making me think its a big deal - in my family its always been no kids at parties.....my Mom was MOH for my Aunt (who is my godmother) and my sister and I were not included in her ceremony or wedding and it wasnt a big deal - its just something thats known in my family.....

i think FH's family is different - they always have to 'do the right thing' if you know what i mean

Re: would you be upset if.....

I think you are totally within your rights to say he can't be there. First, I agree that weddings are for adults. Second, I want the parents to have a good time, not be chasing after their children, having to leave early because they're tired, cranky, whatever... ( the one exception I had to make is for FSIL, who lives out of state, and who's son will be 1 year...her entire family will be at the wedding, and she would have no one to watch him, so I told her that of course she could bring him...he's our first nephew, and it'll be nice to have him in family pics anyway...)
I was actually going to have a FG, but, when I asked her mom, who's in the BP what she thought, she said that she'd prefer if I didn't have her, since she wanted to be able to have a good time...
Stick to your guns.

thats what i told FH yesterday......i said i will not be happy if he is there and i will not walk down the aisle - bottom line ......its our day and i dont think people should fight us on it, its what we want - its ONE day - they should be able to respect our wishes....if they aren't happy too bad for them - i want to enjoy my day and have it the way i always pictured it.....i just thought i was evil for thinking those things!

Alot of people are offended if you dont invite their children , especially if they are family, some people think why wouldnt you want your family there (even if they are kids) as in 'whats wrong with my child'

Def not evil at all. I have already encountered the 'no kids why' and i said 'because its my wedding and i dont want it, if you dont like it do not come, just respond no so i can invite someone who will respect that its my day'

I see what you are saying.....I can see how people coud think that.....I just dont like the way parties look when there are children running around - that goes for any party and I like kids - but just not at functions where there is alcohol haha!

I can totally see your point- even though I am having children at the wedding.....its a matter of preference. But really I dont see a problem with 'NO KIDS'....

Re: would you be upset if.....

I dont like kids anywhere around me so I dont think its evil. J/K!!

But I totally understand why you wouldnt want a 2 year old there. Maybe the parents wont want to bring him anyway. The wedding could be a time for them to have the night off and party.

thanks girls....hopefully FSIL and FBIL want a night out and this does not become an issue. I am just glad I am not being a Bridezilla

Re: would you be upset if.....

In my opinion I totally agree with you when you say weddings are for adults. I just asked my cousins daughter to be our flower girl (she will be 2 1/2) I know her parents will definatley wisk her out of church if she even peeps thats just the kind of parents they are they have control over their kids with is a good thing. Other then the bridal party there will be no kids at our wedding because i think its a place for adults especially when there is liquor around and flowing freely may I add lol

see in my family all of the children are invited and we have experienced the opposite

the children have danced, ate, enjoyed themselves and then fallen asleep in the corner

i guess it depends on the kids that you plan on inviting - i guess my family has exceptionally great kids! kidding!
