Thats very rude of your friend, you're not obligated to invite people with a guest. If they've had a bf/gf for a year or more I would. That 4 extra people can be a big add on.

I am a little confused. It sounds like maybe they gave you an engagement gift with the RSVP since the wedding hasn't happened yet. I would wait to see what happens at the wedding before I got too insulted. JMO

It always gets tricky and frustrating when inviting guests to your wedding.
I have a friend that I haven't seen in about 3 years....mind you, she lives less than 1/2 hour away. We used to hang out back in the days but as soon as she got a boyfriend, she was too busy to come over...and if she did it was because her & her boyfriend got into a fight!!!
Anyhow, way back when, I used to also hang out with her sister...but I haven't seen in in like 5 years!!! So I sent out an e-mail telling everyone that I had set the date and my friend called me and started saying how she & her sister were so excited about coming up to NY for my wedding!!!!!!!!!!!! First of all, I didn't send her sister an e-mail, and secondly I was intending to cut her out of my guest list because I had too many people. I am a very very nice person so what do I do???
And to top it all off, they are both bringing their boyfriends!!! That is 4 people....and they are cheap!!!

So, I completely understand your predicament and honestly, I don't know what advice to give you.
It *****....

I know it shouldn't be about the money, but seriously, $50 for 4 people? I wouldn't even give $50 for just myself. That's so tacky, especially since she's a close friend.

I would be upset too.

I have a limited guest list and I have some friends who are single. I am going to call them before we do invites and ask them if they are seeing anyone because I didn't know if I should be inviting them with a guest or not. Also, I dont believe in writing 'and guest' on an invitation. I find it very imperssonable. I ahve been a 'and guest' before and I think it would have been nice if the bride and groom had taken 2 minutes to find out the name of someone attending their wedding. Haha but people tell me I over think things. :) I just have very strong feelings about the most random things!!

I understand why you are annoyed, but I think anyone over 18 should be invited with a guest. Before you jump to conclusions see what or if they give you anything at your wedding. JMO

I would definitely be upset, especially after she had the nerve to complain to you about not being invited with a guest!
