Yesterday my sister calls me to tell me that her and my mom went and got a MOB dress. Ummm was there somebody missing from this picture?? They both knew that I wanted to go with my mom to help her pick out a dress, have kind of a girl's day out, with or without my sister either way. But no, they go ahead without me and they don't understand why I am upset. My sister had her day and I did not interfere with anything but ever since my wedding planning has begun everything has been put on the back burner. My sister is having some medical issues so my mom is helping her out almost every minute of every day, she does not need to but it is just the way my mom is, helping whenever she can whether she needs to or not. I think I am more hurt than upset over this and I don't know what to do, should I just get over it and like the dress ( I have not seen it yet)??? To me this is a huge deal, being there when my mom picked out her dress, but I guess maybe it isn't that big, did you girls go with your mom's?? Sorry so long!!

You are completely and totally not overreacting!! I would be furious beyond comprehension if my sister went shopping for my mom's dress for MY wedding without me!!!! Did you say anything to either of them that you are hurt????? I'm sorry this happened to you!

I have to say my sister and mom did the same thing and I was upset being that it is my wedding that she is getting a dress for. I never said anything b/c it wasn't worth an arguement. So you are not overreacing at all!

Re: Would you be upset too or am I overreacting?
I was kind of in shock and wasn't realy sure what to say to either of them, I just got real quiet because I was fighting back tears and did not want them to know it because I didn't want any drama. Today at work the more I thought about it I just got madder and madder. I did say to my sister 'this is my wedding' and I think she knew then that I was mad and she said 'I gotta go' so that was the last I heard from them and I didn't call them today and neither one of them has called me today. I don't want to fight over it but I can't act like everything is ok either.

I think you have every right to be upset. I would talk to your mom and let her know that you are hurt, not angry with her, but really hurt that you didn't get to share that special moment with her.
I'm sorry

Re: Would you be upset too or am I overreacting?
I went shopping with my mom for a month...she didn't like anything. To find the time was difficult. Finally, she ended up buying it on a whim when I wasn't with her. Some things just don't happen as you picture them, but I don't think your mom even considered the fact that you may be hurt....
Trust me: you are in for far worse surprises. My FMIL is wearing a WHITE dress to my wedding (my own wedding dress is ivory). I got mad, got hurt, and then finally just told her in a joking manner 'your dress is whiter than mine'....and laughed. She got it (but it was said in an innocent way).
Deep breath....you'll feel better soon.

My mom and I live in different states and she went without me - just called me up one night and said 'guess what I got today?' It turned out fine because the dress is really pretty and will look great on her, but I was kind of sad I didn't get to be there.

I would be upset as well. That is something that I thought was very important to do with my Mom and I can understand that you are disapointed.

Re: Would you be upset too or am I overreacting?
Thank you so much for your input, I have decided that even though I am hurt and upset I am not going to cause any drama with 49 days til my wedding. I am sure the dress is pretty and as long as my mom is comfortable in it that is what matters. I called them both last night and acted as if it never even happened. I don't want my mom to feel bad over it. I don't like fighting, I think they both feel bad enough and I cannot change it. So thank you for making me feel like I was not overreacting, I just have to suck it up and be a bigger person right now, hopefully they will ask for my input from now on. Have a great weekend girls!!!

Re: Would you be upset too or am I overreacting?
to be honest...my sister went with my mom a bunch of times, before I even went....When they found dresses they liked they took me back to the store to try it on...I wasn't really invovled to much until they might have found the one....
I do understand your feelings, it is your wedding day....But life it to short to sweat it....It supposed to be a happy time, so try not to get angry about it...If you want be upset- but dont drag it out....Feel better!

I would be upset ~ since this is your wedding ~ I am not sure if I am going to go with my mom (I would love to but she live in Oklahoma) As for what to do ~ personally I would sit your mom down (without your sister being there) and let her know how hurt you are she didnt wait to go with you ~ like you wanted to....
