The person I'd love to do my hair is available on my date, but I don't know how soon I'll be able to get a trial with them, and I'm afraid of them booking my date before then. Knowing they have a great reputation, would you book without having the trial first? I would of course have a trail before my wedding date, just not before I booked.

I did. I booked my hair person so I can reserve the date and had my trial months later. If I didn't like it I could always find someone else

I did. I would rather have someone who can do the hair on the day of rather than wait till after I try them and then they don't have my date anymore.
But...hair is not really my top priority for the wedding. I know whatever they do will look great and if I don't like it they can fix it till I do. And even when you go for trials it will not look the same as when it's done the day of, it will be similar but still a little different.

I did...I was too worried about losing the date and couldn't get to a trial quickly because I lived out of state.

I booked it without a trial and my wedding is about 2 weeks before yours. I probably won't have my trial for another month or so, so I would say do it.

Re: Would you book your hair person w/out a trial?
Why do we need trials at all? I'm sure I'll get one, but...
I know we can't truly compare, but none of us had trials back in our prom days. Ha ha.
My friends are all about me getting make up and hair trials, but seriously, I want a simple up-do someone from like Supercuts can probably manage that. Ha ha. My hair isn't long and I dont need any curls or anything, I just want this like one swoop and pinned tight type thing I had for my brother's wedding. My make up -how can you really screw this up if I say 'pinks please' ha ha.... I may skip the trial myself.

Re: Would you book your hair person w/out a trial?
when you call to make an appointment for a trial before booking, they usually save your date or make your date unavailable until after your trial. for example, i made an appointment about a month ago with jenn the hair genie and oksana. i just had the trial last night and they wouldn't take anybody else's information with my date until i've decided within a week whether i'm going to book them or not. you can ask if your hair/ make-up people can do that for you. unless you're out of state or physically can't have a trial done until your wedding, i would go that route.

Re: Would you book your hair person w/out a trial?
I am having the same dilemna with my make up person. I love her work and want her to do my wedding day make up which is $350 on the day of but her trial cost 200 and to pay 550 in total for make up is too much so I am thinking of just booking her without the trial as I want it simple anyway.

Re: Would you book your hair person w/out a trial?
I had a trial that I didn't LOVE because we took the extensions out (I added them for volume, not length) so my hair fell flat a few hours later... but I decided to book her anyway because before we took them out it looked great and I had faith she could do what I wanted. I had 2 more trials with her and after my last one I am obsessed with what she did with my hair so I am very happy to have booked her before someone else could! So, go for it- as long as you don't need a deposit then you can always cancel

I have naturally curly hair that not everyone knows how to deal with, so I would definitely not book without a trial, unless you didn't have to leave a deposit.
