Would you buy china for yourself?

Would you buy china for yourself?

We registered for formal and casual china and we got nearly every piece of casual china (yay!) but the only thing we got from our formal china collection was the creamer (don't ask! ).

So, if none of your guests/family bought you your formal china, do you think that you would go out and buy it for yourself or just not have formal china?

We also only received our casual...so yes, I will pony up the money and buy my own china.

I would buy piece by piece...birthdays/anniversaries/etc...parents would buy for those occassions most likely...it may take time but it is cheaper than doing it all at one time...UNLESS of course I had the $$ to just buy it at one time

Seriously! That 10% Bloomingdale's discount isn't all that great when I realized that to buy all our china and the serving stuff would be almost $4000!

Keep in mind Bed Bath & Beyond carries china & crystal. I used shower gift $ to finish off our china and BBB matched Fortunoff's bonus (soup bowl & accent plate) and took 20% off Waterford. Even though their coupons exclude Waterford, they will still take off the discount. It was a great savings (and include the bonuses!!)

Def! I would buy it a little at a time. Or start a 'china fund' and put like $20 a week away specifically for it.

Also watch for when/if it goes on sale or when a 'bonus' pc goes is offered.

The holidays are also coming - ask for it as gifts.

I don't think I would buy it myself because FH thinks it's a waste. Of course I think he's just being a typical guy.

Yes.

No one purchased the china from our registry so we plan on doing so once we buy a house which hopefully will be soon.

I think that I would keep an eye out for sales...and look at the outlets and if I found that there were great prices then I would definitely pick up some stuff. If I don't get all of my china then I plan to ask my mom to buy me pieces for holidays and b'days.

Thanks! we were SO psyched to have found such an incredible deal! it's not the china of my dreams, but it's timeless and beautiful. the china is ivory with the platinum band. our everyday china cost twice as much as this set did.

here is a close up of it

Re: Would you buy china for yourself?

Yes, but as someone mentioned, I'd leave some of the bigger items (serving bowls, etc) for close relatives to buy for various holidays (I know my mom is already planning on doing that). I'm assuming its an expensive pattern...and if you REALLY LOVE it...hey, its your money, enjoy it! :)

(even though 10% isn't 'much' its still something to help!)

The whole set. No. Maybe later. But I got most of my china and bought the rest. However I got only 2 silver settings and returned them rather than buying the rest. OH well. I am sure to inherit some or my great aunt will give me hers.
