Would you do this to cut costs? (are you superstitious?)
If you had the opportunity to buy your wedding ring and FH's wedding ring for half price of anywhere else you'd be able to find it (assume any other rings you'd be able to buy would be double) but they were pre-owned rings from a couple who had divorced, would you buy them to save money?

I'd consider it...i'm not superstitious at all...but i'm wondering if knowing that the rings were pre-owned would take away some of the sentimentality of it for me...

If I really needed to save money then I would probably do it. I have faith in my marriage and I think thats the only thing that matters.
But I would probably find another alternative like just buy a new cheaper ring that wasn't used

I like the idea of using rings that belonged to someone previously only if it is an heirloom and belonged to like a deceased relative. You can find fairly inexpensive rings that aren't used though. We just bought ours on Saturday and spent far less than we anticipated and both got rings that we love. I will post pics when the rings come in. (our sizes had to be ordered)

unless a ring is custom made cant there be a chance that it was returned? or what about diamonds? cant someone sell back a diamond and then the jeweler re-sells it? i always wonder if anyone else owned my stone before me....or its a new stone ive heard that some diamonds are really really old and just re-certified or something like that but i dont know if thats true.....im assuming we could sell my diamond and give back the GIA papers and my jeweler could eventually re-sell it right?

I feel like I would want them to be new for us....our relationship is unique to us, and i would want the rings to be the same....FH recently said he would never want to give an heirloom E-ring (we were discussing my grandma's ring, and how one of my aunts suggested giving it to him for me prior to us getting engaged), b/c he doesn't feel like it's special and made just for me (not that it's not perfect for others, just not for us)...I think we'd feel the same way about wedding bands...

i dont get this, is their a place that sells wedding rings of divorced couples?
and also why would it be cheaper? gold is gold, platinum is platinum, and diamonds are diamonds, worth the same in my opinion no matter what.

karma has nothing to do with the rings. karma has to do with people's actions.
if they are your dream rings, at a price you can afford, who the heck cares where they came from?
i'm almost positive the couple didn't break up because of their wedding bands.

you can buy used jewelry at a lot of places. a lot of pawn shops specialize in wedding bands/engagement rings.
a lot of people also sell their wedding bands/engagement rings after a divorce.
stores mark up gold/platinum/and diamonds. you usually can't sell them for the price you paid at a retail store.

Re: Would you do this to cut costs? (are you superstitious?)
My FH and I picked out my ring from an heirloom/estate jewelry shop. Since I wanted a vintage style ring, it made sense aesthetically and economically to get a genuine vintage ring. I honestly couldn't find anything else I loved at a conventional jewelry store and it fit in with my reduce/reuse/recycle mindset.
Do something to separate the rings from the old owners--have it blessed by your clergy member or do your own ceremony to cleanse it from any bad karma you may think it has. Do something to make it your own.
