Would you ever complain of a wedding gift to the person who gave you one??
Im going to try to put a long story short, but one of the ladies I work with went to a wedding a few weeks ago. Today, she got a phone call from the Brides Father telling her how upset they were that the gift they gave them was very dissappointing. They ended up giving a gift and not cash/check. She got so upset today, she was Hysterical.
The brides father then realized how wrong he and his wife were to even complain, after seeing how upset she got, that they then apologized!
I said to her, I dont know how you're even crying.......I told her she shouldve said 'You got alot of nerve complaining, but if you dont like it, return it' and then hang up.
But not for nothing, how f'n Rude is that???? Would you ever? People dont have a clue how foolish they sound like when they open their mouths without thinking first!

Some people don't give $$$$ as a wedding gift. I think its fine. To each his/her own. Thats pretty nervy.

That is so rude...you should be happy with whatever gifts you receive. If you don't like something, take it back!

So rude!!! If someone WANTS to give a gift THEY should choose what THEY WANT to give.
In no way do I see any of my invited guests obligated to give a gift, or cash, or 'cover the cost of their plate'. I am much more comfortable with people doing whatever THEY feel comfortable with.
As for that complainer, they were wrong. I feel so bad for your coworker. I think you gave her great advice.

That is so extremely rude!!! That man really needs to learn some manners. She should have given them a book on Etiquette!

the bride and groom should have been graceful and to accept the gift. i think it's rude that the bride and groom would invite your friend only in hopes they would get money from her. unbelievable ppl! i'm glad your friend didn't yell at them.. this would've heightened the situation further (maybe). but it's good that the bride, groom, dad and mom feel like a bunch of a-holes. how embarrassing for them to react in such a way. very tacky i must say!

OMG, no way. That is so rude. A gift is not mandatory and they should be grateful to have received anything at all, regardless of what it was.

OMG, that is THE most innappropriate thing I've ever heard! Who the He!! does this guy think he is?! There's no rule as to what kind of gift you have to give. I would have nothing more to do with these people. And no offense, but the bride or groom must have said something to the parents that they thought enough to call your coworker. I would no longer be friends with them, but that's just me.

That's one of the most disgraceful things I ever heard. I can't believe anyone would ever call someone and say things like that. He should be ashamed of himself for being so greedy and so cruel.
to your friend.

Wow, that goes beyone tacky, rude, classless, etc. It's a GIFT, meaning that she didn't have to get them a damn thing if she really didn't feel like it. It's a generosity, not a necessity. Wow, that's just beyond rude, I don't even know the word for it. To have your generosity thrown back in your face. I'm mad for your co-worker!!!

While I feel that it's only right to 'cover the cost of your plate' in your gift, I would never call someone on it for giving me a small monetary amount or a gift item. The father was wrong. It's just rude and very tacky.

SO rude!! i actually had that happen to me and I was in the bridal party!! I got them a gift that would stand the test of time---a mantle clock that she registered for--because i wanted them to have something to remember that I gave them.
When she got back from the honeymoon she said 'you are from NY you know people give $$ and not gifts. I can't believe you didn't give me $$'.
Needless to say we are no longer friends
