I just happened to be looking on Home Depot and Lowe's websites for some home improvement ideas and products and saw that they both have Gift Registries....that got my wheels turning. We would like to completely renovate our home and while FH has all the tools he needs (I would NEVER register for tools lol NOT FUN ) I was thinking that it would be a good idea to maybe register for some of the products (fixtures, cabinets, flooring, etc.) that we would need when we renovate our house. We got a decent amount of 'bridal shower' stuff for our engagement party and also when we moved into our house alot of people bought us presents...what do you think? Is that a silly idea?

FH cousin got gift certificates at her bridal shower for her FH. I thought it was a great idea.

I never really thought about registering there, but I think it's a good idea, especially if you're new homeowners.

I just went to register this past weekend and we actually registered at Home Depot for things for our house. It's def. a good idea if you want to renovate your home. register online b/c they are backwards in the store and you have to write everything down.

I think its a great idea, If we were planning on redoing our house after the wedding, we would totally register, especially if FH was planning on doing the work too.

But we are redoing the house now, and its a huge project that involves arichtects, variances, permits and new foundation. So FH is not going to be involved much in the project. But the fixtures and stuff sound like a great idea.

Every year for FH's bday he tells everyone to get him home depot gift cards. So he has alot saved up!!!

Definitely a great idea if you already own a home.

You should register for the pink tool kit and walk around the house like the Tool-belt diva! lol

we got a home depot gift card at our E-party steve wnats tools i want plant stuff....lol i guess ill let him use it

I think thats a great idea. FH and I bought a home a year before we started wedding plans and being we already have the typical stuff you would pick out for a registry I think Lowes or Home Depot makes sense.

Honestly coming from someone who just bought a brand new house in Sept I would definitely do it. We needed so much of that stuff between area rugs, fixtures and stuff you dont even think of until you move. I see nothing wrong with it.

I think it's the best idea for homeowners! When we do work on our house, we can't believe that once the renovations are done that we'll have 3 floors of a house and a front yard, back yard and garage to furnish!

WOW...we were joking about that once...I can't believe you can actually do that. We have been in our house for 4 years...I've been wondering what we are going to register. We pretty much have everything we need. We plan on re-doing our kitchen after the wedding...that might be a good idea...hmmmm...Thanks for posting!

I was thinking the same thing..Especially after I am done planning my wedding I am going to need a new project and renovations can be so expensive.

Wow after posting this I was so curious as to what kind of responses I'd get. I thought a lot of people would be like 'that's not fun stuff who'd want to get stuff like that' blah blah blah. But I'm very pleasantly surprised Now I can't wait to go to either of those stores to register

i think it's great, especially if you have your china and stuff from the engagement party. why not get what you really need!

I totally would!!! We just bought our house and it's been nonestop rennovating!! gift cards from Lowes & Home Depot are great if the registry gets all purchased...
