My little sister was so excited because her boyfriend called screaming that he won $10,000 on a scratch off lotto ticket.
WELL...turns out his stepdad bought a fake joke lotto ticket and it wasn't a winner at all. I had seen one of those before, and they do appear to be very real.
And while i laughed when i found out, i feel really bad!! What a mean joke!! I told my FH I would cry because winning 10 grand would be incredible right now!!!!

Oh no, that's kind of mean. You just can't play with people's dreams, that's all we have sometimes.

I agree.
Besides, depending on the amount, I would have run into my bosses office and quit. How would I take THAT back?!?!!?

My grandma was one of the NY Post supposed winners of a million on the day when they misprinted the numbers. She was so upset after finding out after telling everyone and planning what to do with the money.

Thats horrible, I'm sorry about what happened to your grandma!! I would be so upset...
As for my sisters boyfriend...yeah he was more embarrased than anything. And my sister....WELL....lets just say the thoughts of a new coach bag as a present flew out the window!!!! You have to have a really good sense of humor to forgive someone for that!!

Yeah, I probably would but only on one person. I have this friend who is the queen of practical jokes. She once superglued her old roomates toes together while he was sleeping and then yelled 'Fire!' and she put a bullion cube in the showerhead when her mother was staying with her. I would definately do it to her.

Imagine if a person thought that they won MILLION$, and ended up quitting their job on the spot, to only find out that it was a joke? I don't think it's a good practical joke... unless you show someone that YOU won, and they jump up and down for you, and u reply 'I WISH!... JUST KIDDING'.

Re: Would you ever play this joke on someone?
one of my cousins did that to another one of the cousins. We were pissed because the 'winner' offered to share it with all of us before he even realized that it was fake.
The way 'jokester' did it was to give out lotto tickets to all of us on XMAS. So, when we all lost, the one winner offered to share.
Needless to say, when he read 'Redeem your prize at yo mamma's house' outloud, we all wanted to strangle 'jokester'

I couldnt do it. In that moment you think you won, you already have it spent. With so many of us needing money for homes and weddings, I know that I would have that money spent on various parts of my special day with a sigh of relief only seconds later to have it pulled away. No way, I couldnt do it. I know how I'd feel.
