I would never wear anything except a skirt or pants suit with a blouse to an interview.

I actually still don't own a suit....I've gotten away with wearing a black turtleneck and black pants with conservative heels and have gotten two jobs wearing that :)

I know I need to get a suit, but I haven't gotten one yet.

definately a suit, after my first job when interviewing for the next one my suit didnt fit, I went to Kohl's which had nice looking slightly less formal black or navy blue suits by a liz claiborne brand, very comfortable and around $100. they looked really good..

I would only wear a black or navy skirt suit especially if it's a formal interview.

I agree, def. a suit but I know in my field (mental health) I have seen a ton of people interview and interviewed people in sweaters and nice pants so I think it depends on the environment. I stick to the suits though.
