Would you ever wear an evening gown twice...

... with the same people? What I mean is, if you had a great gown and you wore it to a wedding in Sept 2001 and now another wedding is coming up in Oct 2003 in which a lot of the same people will be there, would you wear the dress again? Do you think many people would remember what you wore 2 years ago?

As long as it's still in good shape, you should wear it!

What does it look like? If it's something classic, like all black, then definitely. If it's something very unique, that would be remembered, probably not. I don't think most people would notice, but if it stood out the first time, it will again and people will remember. If you care about that sort of thing, I wouldn't wear it again.

So Funny you ask 2 coworkers and I were just talking about this. We figured with accessories and a wrap to change things up a bit you absolutely could get a second wearing. If anyone notices - so what.

It really depends. If it was memorable gown (bright color, intricate design, etc.), I would say no. If it is a simpler style, I would say yes.

If it was solid black or another color than I would but if it was different and noticable than i wouldnt.

when i come across a great dress, which are hard to come by, i like to get my use out of them. the only prob with wearing a really great dress twice is that if it is something that someone else LOVES, then they'll remember it. ie - i went to a wedding in may and saw this woman wearing a dress that was stunning! so in turn, i went out and went trying to look for a similar dress for another wedding that i had to attend. no such luck but that was my experience. but if i saw her at another wedding wearing the same thing i would think that she has an awesome dress so why NOT wear it again?

Well I have a very 'hourglass body'. Very small on top with a nice size booty! :) So it is very hard for me to find clothes that fit right.

Well last year for New Years Eve, I found this great gown that actually fit me! :) So I bought it and wore it for New Years Eve. We went with DH parents and my parents. So this Saturday we have a wedding in NJ (DH cousin). His family will be there and they will remember the gown, becuase they complimetned me a lot on it. However, I don't care, I am wearing it again! :) I look at it this way, why spend $$ to buy something else when this looks good on me, no one really saw me but in laws, and next year if I am preggo, then I can't wear it and after baby if I am fatter, well you get the pic. I am trying to get some mileage outta the dress. So I decided to go ahead and wear it. It is a black gown with a high slit in the back with a lot of beading.

It it is dark purple silk taffeta with a slight v-neck and a halter. It's from Ann Taylor from Fall 01 (the straps meet in the middle of the back and they are hooked onto a rhinestone ring creating a halter and then two other straps come down and attach to the back of the dress). It is simple, classic, timeless and the best part is that I didn't have the matching wrap (it has rhinestone trim) until it went on sale a month or so AFTER I wore the dress. So no one at this upcoming wedding has seen me in it with the wrap.

I guess I just get worried that someone will look at the picture and notice.

Yeah, I hate this issue. I am actively invovled in an association which gathers for formal events 3 times a year. I really can't wear the same outfit to each cause they're pretty much the same people (state, regional, national). I ended up investing in 2 piece sets. I have two great black skirts very different in style, but both A-line and long. I have 3 tops that were bought to go with it. So now I just rotate.

For you, I think you'll be fine wearing it to another wedding.. like everyone says.. accessorize. Hair and jewelry can make a huge difference on who people 'see' you in the same outfit.

I've been pondering this for a long time! Its so annoying because I go to a dinner dance every year for teh past three years now - and the same people are there every year - i am not comfortable wearing the same dress where I know the same people will be there- i definitely will wear a dress twice - and have - dresses are just too insanely expensive not to wear again - just dont want the majority of the people to be the same - i'm wierd - i dont mind direct family members seeing it again - i dont want others to -

I hate questions like this - (NO offense to you) but if someone dares to say anything they are simply catty! If you spent the same amount of money on a pair of pants or a sweater - you would DEFINITELY wear it again - so why can't you do that again with a formal dress! It is not like you wore the dress last week.

Honestly if someone remembers the dress - I would say it was because it stood out in their mind (you probably looked beautiful in it) because honestly think really hard - how many of us REALLY pay attention and remember exactly what each and every person wore unless you absolutely LOVED the dress - right?
