i think i would give it back regardless if it ended well since it was a promise to get married on both ends .. unless i caught him cheating or something that was unforgivable then i would sell it and pay off my loans!

i agree. i wouldn't want it anymore, i'd be too upset every time i looked at it. and i wouldn't want to sell it either, b/c whatever i did w that money, i couldn't enjoy it.

My ring was my great-grandmother's, so no.
But i knew someone that got a HUGE ering from her fiance, and then found out he was sleeping with her friend., and she kept it. Lol I think it paid for her first year of grauate school!
