starting to get nervous that i made the wrong decision....would you guys go to a wedding the day after new years day? for me its going to be a sunday and will be over by 9pm. Are most people away during that time?
FH and I are really saving by doing it then and we didnt want to do it before xmas since we didnt want to make our families travel with the stress of xmas and all. We are going to send out STDs way in advance and we figured that most of our friends from OOT will come to NY to spend new years and stay on for the wedding. But now i'm second guessing myself..... :(

I don't think that most people are away, since most people have to be back at work the following Monday. I wouldn't worry too much about it at all.

I would have loved to get married on January 2! My grandparents got married on that day and were very happily married for over 30 years (when my grandfather passed away). My aunt and uncle also got married on January 2 and in 2009 marked their 55th wedding anniversary!

I think its fine. Our first choice was Jan 2, 2010 but it was taken so we went with the 26th. I think as long as you send the STDs, everyone will plan accordingly.
Don't stress about it!

No matter what day it is your close friends and family will be there for you. your giving them more than enough time to prepare themselves

Depending on who it is, I wouldn't go to an OOT wedding after New Year's because I just wouldn't want to travel but I'd definitely go to a local one. And obviously I'd go either way if it were a close friend or family member.

Absolutely! As someone else suggested, make sure to send out STD's. I'd look at it as a great way to start a new year!

I really hope people will come to a wedding the day after new years, considering that is my wedding date-just the year before you
And part of the reason why i picked that date is its my aunt's wedding date and when I get married, she will be married 22 years

People with travel plans may just be getting back from their trip Sat or Sunday. I wouldn't worry about it but I would make sure you spread the word or send out save the dates for something around the holidays, just in case.

I wouldn't worry too much about it... most people will have work the following day and will be home by then... but if it is going to stress you out maybe just push it to the following weekend... does the price go up a lot?

unfortunately i can't push it to the following weekend b/c I have rotations in the hospital (i'm finishing up my last semester of medical school then) also i figured oot ppl have to take off anyways a day or two, so why not do it during a time that they would most likely have new years eve off already.

The people who want to be there to celebrate with you will be there no matter what day you choose. I would send out STDs so people who have to travel can request the time off in advance.
