If they had a ton of excuses but then interviewed really well and seemed perfect for the job?

Missed a train, got off at the wrong stop, took cab, the cab driver was lost and didn't understand English... But she called a few times updating us on the situation.
well.....this is tricky. I'd say give her a call, maybe do a phone interview - she sounds flaky though. If i had an interview I would be dam* sure that I gave myself time and directions to get there.
I agree and at firts we wanted to just cancel the interview. But we interview her and she is GREAT! Maybe we should do a second interview. I am not in HR so I don't have much experience with this.
i would do a 2nd interview....if she was great,...stuff like that really happens

Were there any LIRR troubles? My first day of my current job there were 45-50 minute delays. I called from the platform and they said they heard it on the radio.
If there were announced mass transit troubles, there is NOTHING the person could do. The LIRR commuters around here know how helpless it can be when the trains are majorly delayed.

she should have done a trial run for the train, ect....but sometimes it all falls apart...you seem to really want to give her a shot....go for the 2nd interview.....

I would pass. A train delay is obviously unavoidable, but that wasn't the problem...she was not prepared to get to your office.
You could always keep interviewing and if no one else turns up call her back.

She first called 10 minutes before 9:00, she was suppossed to show up at 9:00 She was really good but showing up that late is really bad. I would NEVER be that late to an interview if I really wanted the job.
2 more people in to interview today...

well I know with me, if I am out job hunting, I like to do it all in one day, you know so I only have to take off one day at my current job. Maybe she had a scheduling conflict

Hmmm... this is a tough one. When I have a job interview at a new place I usually arrive a full hour early and then find somewhere nearby to sit to make sure there is no issue. Since there wasn't some sort of uncontrollable circumstance involved, I'd be really concerned if timeliness was important to the job.
