Would you rather....
Make a lot of money BUT be miserable at your job
____OR_____
Make not so much money and love your job
Considering i HATE MY JOB, I'd take a pay cut to really enjoy what I do.

Re: Would you rather... (Job Questions)
I have always said being happy is more important, money is secondary.
Everyone can say they make money, but how many people can say they are truly happy with their jobs?

Re: Would you rather... (Job Questions)
I have always been a firm believer that you need to do what you enjoy & you need to be happy at your job otherwise you will always look for a way to get out & that causes you to not be as productive as you should be. So personally, I would rather make less & be happy!
Money is still money, no matter how you look at it!

Um, considering right now I make very little money AND I'm miserable, I'd take more money!! But for the long haul, I'd rather be happy at a job with less money.

Re: Would you rather... (Job Questions)
Hey Kathleen,
I would rather do what I was happy doing. I worked in the admin field for 10 years & took over a 15k paycut to teach in catholic school. I was like a different person when I started teaching.
Then last year I had left my 2nd grade job that I loved b/c I wanted to teach at a younger age level as that was what my Masters was in & I wanted to see b4 I got in a public school---well I hated it & it made me dread going to work last year, along w/ the 1 1/2 commute.
I hope some things are coming through for you...I'm contemplating a job in Queens now but its 815-515....that's a long day w/ kiddos!!! And a long drive for me.

I think that being happy at your job makes all the difference in your life. You spend MOST of the day at work and IMO it is EXTREMELY important to be happy at your job

Is it a lot more money??? If it makes a significant difference in your lifestyle, I would probably consider going for the money. And do you need more money more than you need to have a happy work enviornment? It's a tough choice...Good Luck.

Without a doubt, I would rather be happier and make less money. You know the old saying 'money doesn't buy happiness.' I think thats true.

Re: Would you rather... (Job Questions)
I currently earn a lot less than I used to and I LOVE MY JOB!!!! I had way too much stress with my other job that I earned more. It affected EVERYTHING in my life and IMO more money isn't worth it. I am so happy now.

Re: Would you rather... (Job Questions)
well right now i am sucking it up at a job i hate cause the pay is good. As soon as the wedding is done, I hope to find a new job I love (whatever the pay may be!)
in the long run, I don't think it is healthy to stay at a job you hate even if the money is great. it is just depressing and wears on you.

Re: Would you rather... (Job Questions)
I was miserable at my last job and gladly would have taken a paycut to leave. I think happiness is much more important.

Same here, I'm looking for something else and if it means less money I'll take it. I go to work miserable everyday and it's a horrible feeling!

Re: Would you rather... (Job Questions)
When you're happy with your job, it doesn't feel like work. It feels like your getting paid for something you enjoy doing. I would rather have that any day instead of dreading of where I have to go when I wake up in the morning....

To me being happy is more important-you have to be there all day every day and it affects your home life too if you are miserable

Re: Would you rather... (Job Questions)
I am not sure- It's easy to say that you would take less $$ to be happy- but when it comes down to it- I am not sure I would be able to do it
at would depend on how much money I am making and how much I am talking about giving up
I was unhappy at my last job- and I found a new job where I am happier make $15K more

Re: Would you rather... (Job Questions)
Def make less money but be happy with what I'm doing. Tho unfortunately happiness doesn't pay the bills so sometimes we're stuck.
