Would you wait based on another's wedding?

Would you wait based on another's wedding?

I posted this on Parenting, but realized it was on the wrong board - DH and I want to TTC this fall. However, my best friend's wedding (which I am in) is next June. Would you put off TTC based on the fact that it would be very close to her wedding? I really don't want to wait because it probably won't happen right away, but I think my friend might be really upset if it did. i would feel AWFUl if I someohow ended up missing her wedding.

ask your friend how she feels about it...some brides don't want a PG Bm, adn others don't mind. My best friend called my right away to ask if I minded and I said No! I wanted to have her stand up for me on my special day....she was 7 months PG

The thing that I'm concerned about is actually MISSING the wedding if it is too close to the day. I guess we could just wait one more month to start TTC.

I did not, I was 20 weeks pregnant at my friend's wedding this past July... however had I known I was going to TTC before hand I would have probably told my friend I couldn't be in the wedding... it was a lot to be standing and posing and being out and about all day...

I have another friend who was in her friends wedding and got pregnant... she ended up being due the week of the wedding and had to back out because it was too close together..

Here's another thought... I had a friend who was in my bridal party and decided to TTC, after much discussion she felt it best that she back out, I was completely understandable, after all, now I know how hard it was...

BUT I also have my mother who was pregnant at her cousins wedding (of course years ago) who said she was fine the entire day... so it's just different for everyone...

But to answer your question, if I were already in the bridal party, I would NOT hold off TTC.

I don't think I would wait to TTC - I think your friend would totally understand. Besides you never know if you'll get pregnant right away.

If she is your friend she will understand. TTC is a very personal decision and a friend's approval/wedding would never have factored into my decision. TTC can take one month or it can take years - you never know what's in store for you.

I struggled with this same decision. DH and I had planned to start trying next summer but my sister is getting married next fall. We decided that we would wait until after her wedding. I am the matron of honor though. If this had just been a friend of mine, no, I would not have waited. Your friend will definitely understand.

I can't imagine having someone's wedding (even a very close someone) affect your decision on when to start a family. JMHO.

It seems that you really want to be there, if that is Important to you and I totally understand I would just wait one month and then TTC,
bc you dont know now when it will happen you can get Preggo on the first time or may take a year but you will never know so if you want to be on the safe side just wait one month,
a month goes by so quickly anyways!!!
best of luck!!!

I had a pregnant bridesmaid in my wedding. She actually started to try after I asked her to be in my wedding and I was really excited for her.

She was 4 months pregnant at my wedding and looked great. She just ordered her dress one size larger than waht she normally wears and went for her fitting 10 days before the wedding.

Actually no one could even tell she was pregnant since she wasn't to far along anyway. But needless to say we've been friends since we were 10 years old so even if she was 8 months pregnant I would still want her to be part of my wedding!!

I agree, FH and I discussed starting a family right after we got married since we started dating, now his brother is getting married in June, we decided not to wait b/c you never know what is going to happen, or how long it will take etc.

OK maybe I am selfish here, but one of my best friends was due to have his first baby the weekend of my wedding. I was totally stressed that he was not going to be at my wedding. Luckily, they had the baby 2 weeks early, so he was able to make it. I was happy for them, but relieved that he could be in our BP.

JMHO

I think it really depends. I waited for one of my best friends weddings. She would not have cared if I was pregnant, but I wanted to be there for her threw every step of the planning up to her wedding. I was worried that I may not be feeling good or too tired to help her or even sick at her wedding.
I also wanted to be able to celebrate and drink at the bachelorette party and wedding.
I had 2 pregnant bridemaids in my wedding party, who got pregnant after I had asked them to be in my bridal party... and it didnt bother me at all!
