Would you wait to TTC based on another person's wedding?
DH and I want to TTC this fall. However, my best friend's wedding (which I am in) is next June. Would you put off TTC based on the fact that it would be very close to her wedding? I really don't want to wait because it probably won't happen right away, but I think my friend might be really upset if it did. If we start TTC in September, and it happened right away, it is always possible that I could MISS the wedding.

Personally I would not wait to TTC based on being in a friends wedding. If it is a real issue for you, I would speak with your friend about it, see waht she says. The only reason I would not wait, is that you never know what can happen, and putting off TTC for 6-8 months is a long time. JMO.

Uhhh no, they wouldnt put off their wedding cause you were pregnant would they? People lead different lives and if you can make it great and if you cant cause you are in labor people understand.

I really would not put off ttc for anyone. When are you going to start trying? You say in the fall right any month in particular? and her wedding is in June?

From personal experience, I would recommend not waiting. We wanted to try last sept. My sister was getting married in January and I didn't want to be fat or have trouble with the dress or morning sickness... :) So we waited. Her wedding is over, we start to TTC then we find out my Father has cancer. Well I was a nervous wreck. I ended up getting pregnant and miscarrying. I got pregnant a second time and two weeks ago miscarried again. Now we are almost a year after our original TTC time... I know that God has his reasons for this, but I feel like its not where I thought I would be.
Bottom line, I am sorry I waited. I would have rather been fat at her wedding, then go through this. Now, don't get me wrong. Who is to say that I would not have miscarried last year too before my father got sick and I am just meant to miscarry these two times??? But I wonder, you know. My body and life has not been the same since January....

I usually just lurk on this board, but I would like to throw in my 2 cents if I may.
When I announced that my wedding would be this coming September, my MOH informed me that she was TTC. I said I don't care if you are a house, puking and have to wear a burlap sack, I want you at my wedding.
Well, it took a little while of trying but she just told me that she is pregnant and I am so happy for her.

I would hold it off a couple of months but I would not wait until June. Although I think it's not fair for you to have to hold off you did make a commitment to your friend first. And I think you should try to make sure you can be there in June. If you start trying in Sept. & Oct. you could be due around her wedding or in your 8th month. IT might be hard for you to be in her wedding.
When I asked my MOH to be my MOH I knew she was TTC. I told her not to hold off for my wedding. She kept trying and did not TTC about 9-10 months before my wedding date so that she could make sure she was there. It was 100% her choice but I was relieved that she made that choice.

I agree with almost everyone else. There is no guarantee that you're going to get pregnant right away. It may take weeks or months for you to get pregnant. If you and your husband are ready that's all that matters. Good luck

I would not put off TTC if you are due to be in a wedding...
My MOH asked me if it would be a big deal if she was PReg when I got married...I told her absolutely not....Thats why they make maternity dresses...as long as she was there, that is all that mattered to me...even if she was 7 or 8 months preggo!!!!!!!!

No. The truth is you might not get pregnant for months or you could get pregnant on the first try- you just never know. I would not worry about the wedding. A pregnant BM is just as beautiful IMO.

Personally I think that anyone that would get upset over you (or anyone else) being pregnant to the point that you would miss their wedding, is not really being fair.
I know a wedding is a big deal (of course!) but so is having a child and I would never be upset that they decided to TTC before my wedding. My bridesmaid asked if I minded and I said 'mind? it's not my business - do what you want!!' How can I tell her what to do or not do in that aspect?!?!
Now if she was due that day and not able to make it, yes I would be sad but not mad. Just sad that she couldn't make it but happy for the reason why.

I don't think anyone would be upset w/ you, I just think you have to decide what you want.
I personally, did choose to wait and one of the reasons was I didn't want to be PG and my DH's best friends wedding. They're getting married April 30, 2004... I don't mind being 4 months pregnant, but I didn't want to be 8 months- so, I think it's up to YOU what you would want. A PG BM is just as beautiful as all the other BM's

nope I would not wait either. When you become pregnant is not up to you, it happens when its meant to happen. It could take 1 month, it could take 1 year. The sooner you start trying the sooner you'll become preggo
