Re: would you work with your mom
I work at at College. My Mom works here as well but in a different department. My sister and her friend work in my department part time.
It can get a little tricky with the politics of it all. For example, If i ask my sister to do something she acts as if she was my sister and not an employee.
I think I would get my mom the job though, because I would want to help her out. BUT I would set the guidelines from the beginning and she would have to understand that she can't treat you like a daughter, but she would have to treat you as a coworker.

I'd say yes, her having a job and benefits is most important. Hoping that it's not working too closely together, how big is your office, would you be working close together?

we wouldnt be working really close together. Same office but not near each other. And she really needs a job. Shes been looking for a while. I just dont know what happens the first time someone says something bad about her.

You just have to distance yourself from the fact that she's your mom and you would be working with her. Its hard, but you have to act like workers and not relatives.

I was actually working with my brothers gf and while it was great it was tough at times - Im the office manager so when she would come in late and stuff like that it would get sticky

I worked with my mother when I was a teenager. Now she is my boss at my part time job, but I work opposite hours.
