Would you/do you reuse freezer bags?

Would you/do you reuse freezer bags?

I usually separate my meat in little baggies...doubled wrapped...and then I put all the small packages in gallon freezer bags...

it seems like it is such a waste to throw them out (considering their expense)

would you reuse them...should I rinse them out? or keep the empty bags in the freezer so if there is any bacteria...it will be killed from the cold?

i probably wouldn't reuse the little baggies, but the freezer bags - definitely!

have you tried the food saver? those bags are dishwasher safe!

i love it.

oooh, speaking of the food saver, i have a question on it to post.

I have reused the big gallon freezer bags in instances like that.

I wouldn't re-use for meat or anything too messy, but I have reused from things like bread and cookies. They seem to take forever to to dry if you rinse them!

I don't eat meat but I've reused for bread before. I probably wouldn't reuse the little baggies but don't see why you couldn't reuse the freezer bags.

cool...I don't mean to sound cheap...but everything is wrapped very well before they go in the freezer bag...

thanks for making me feel better about my frugalness...

I try to look at it as being friendlier to the environment

Yabbo, this post made me laugh! I've interviewed Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty and he joked that sometimes him and his wife will want to reuse a ziploc bag if it is not dirty because it seems like such a waste to throw it out, but then he worries he is beging really cheap! Even millionaire rock stars think like us!

I reuse them, and so does my mom, but iactually don't put meat in them. My mom does and she just washes them out after she uses them.

I double wrap my meat in foil, then place in a freezer bag. I do reuse the bags since nothing is actually touching them besides the foil - I actually keep the bags in the freezer so they are in there when I need them.

I would only re-use something that wasn't used to store raw meat - even if it was double wrapped - I just don't trust that some blood or juice from the raw meat didn't seep out of the cling wrap. But, I re-use for breads, bagels and other cooked items.
