buy a parent's gift if they have not contributed $1 to the wedding?
I am planning on getting FMIL a parents album after the wedding, but at the RD everyone else is getting something.
I am torn bc she has not contributed a single thing and my poor parents have busted their butts to help pay.

Same situation here....Im giving my FMIL a 5x7 framed pic of me and fh (may not even be a professional one either) . I dont care! She didnt even offer to fcukin tie a bow throughout the entire planning process, no less contribute financially!!!

Re: Would/Did you....
I feel the same exact way. FH's father has asked if we need any money, but I know his mother is a penny pincher and would never allow it, so I told him that we have everything covered. Honestly, I'd rather pay using a credit card than take money from them.
Anyways....I've decided to just buy each set of parents a small photo album (probably Lenox or some other nice brand) for them to put their proofs or pics other people give them in. I'm also giving them each a parent album. Probably going to do something special for my parents, like take them somewhere.

Has she helped in another way? Like offering advice or gathering info for you? If she has helped I would, but if not what would you be thanking her for?

FILs are getting a parent album and a copy of the video and that is all and only bc it was included in what we paid.

Yah not really. And the only reason I even thought about this was bc literally every other person at the RD will be getting something. But really I feel it wouldnt be fair to my parents who have put sooo much into it.
You can obviously see which way i'm leaning lol

I would give your parent's their gift separately. Both sets of parents will be getting cards at the RD telling them they will be recieving parent albums and a video but my parents will be getting their gift before that. so as not to cause any issues.

This is what I would do too.

Re: Would/Did you....
Neither his parents or my parents are contributing anything to us. I will not be getting them anything...

I have the same situation- I am getting them both parents albums and a copy of the video and 8x 10 picture (which comes with the package I got) But I think I will get them picture frames to give them at the RD.

I would just give something small more as a remembrance of your wedding day and so they don't feel left out when everyone else is getting gifts. I think it's actually pretty generous of you that you're getting a parent album for them if they aren't contributing bc those are pretty expensive!

I would. They are going to be your in-laws and they are FH's parents. I'd still get 'em something.

Re: Would/Did you....
I think, regardless of if a parent contributed financially to the wedding, a gift is still appropriate because they have offered, love, support, etc...and they shouldn't not be acknowledged as your parents solely because they didn't contribute $$.

I agree if they have done all of the above, which is why my answer is still No

Re: Would/Did you....
We are not getting parents gifts at all and his parents are paying 100% for the wedding.
We will get them all something from the honeymoon.

If that were the case i would be more than happy to give a gift
