For all of you that live at home, stop and take a good look at your bedroom. I am 27 and I am living between my parents house and Fi's apartment. On my walls, I still have a picture of GOOFY, pictures of my friends, the bouquet I caught at my cousins wedding (and what do you know, it worked, I am getting married!), framed postcards from 1996, a college tassle, and many other memories. I look at the color of the paint which I picked out seven years ago (Ralph Lauren paint with has held up well), and a blue rug which I would never even dream of buying now. Nine months from today, my mother will no longer be able to ask the question, 'Are you coming home tonight?' because I will always be coming home to Brian. I think for the first time, (Maybe because it's the first time since Dawnie got married that I came home and I had no one to 'play with') it has hit me that I am getting married. Now that I pointed this out, does anyone feel like this or and I just getting emotional over nothing.

Awwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!! I know how you feel. It reminds me of father of the bride when Mr. Banks is thinking of Annie the night before she gets married. He sees her in stages of her life. I cry everytime I see that. I am just so close with my mom and dad as well. It is weird but just think one day you will have family of your own. That is a stranger thought but a good one.

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
You are not alone! My mom and I were talking about this all weekend. I was laying in her bed snuggling with her and watching tv and she said, what am I going to do when you get married? JT will get to snuggle with you and I can't! She's so funny. I have been feeling it ever since I moved out in August. But I am feeling the same. Have been for months! I think there's a lot of things that get left behind after marriage and not so much in a bad way, but it's really your childhood chapter closing. How can that NOT be hard?

Ok, you girls are making me cry. It's weird, I guess my mother just made me feel this way, she is losing two girls in one year~and my (step) sister is also getting married this year. Her house will be completely empty. SHe got all sentimental, so I got all sentimental and now I am crying. (Just tearing, not hysterics or anything...) But I am a momma's/daddy's girl. I am very close to both my parents.

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
I haven't really lived at home for 10 years (since I left for college), so I didnt go through that, but I can only imagine it must be an emotional ride to get married AND leave home for the first time.
Its nice when we visit home and my sisters stay over, like they did the night before the wedding (only we're all in different rooms now. Mine got taken over soon after I moved out).
edited to say: I'm very close to my family, but also very used to not living with them I am excited tonight - we leave tomorrow for a week with my family in a villa in Positano! yay!

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
Finally to hear someone talk about this! i completely understand. i am one of the few out of my friends who still lives at home and FH lives at his parent's too. i have lived here my WHOLE life (didn't even go away to college) my sister and her 5 children live next door. My God -my brother and his wife live in our house apartment! it is crazy here but fun. we are a close family even though it sounds sick that all my parents' children have stayed so close! anyway, it'll be time for me to leave for good next year. and though i look forward to it- I will miss my room!! and just all of the little things around home. it's going to be a major transition but there's no going back and i won't want to. because there are so many positive things about leaving and FINALLY having my own home with my FH it'll be great and i'm sure you're going to feel that way too! (will you be moving close to home so you can at least visit a lot?)

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
Awwwwwwwwwww that was so sad! I felt that way too when I moved out. It took adjusting to be out on my own (well ok with FH) but I got over it. I just told myself 'well you can't live at home forever!'
But the weeks before I moved out when I went to bed at night I had a lump in my throat because...it was my home for 22 years...and there's no place like home
I miss it! But wouldn't go back LOL!!!!

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
But I sleep at fi's 5 nights a week? However I refuse to say that I live there, I refuse to change the message on his answering machine to reflect both of us living there and I refuse to stay there all week, I make sure I come home atleast two nights to my parents. SO even though I live there, I am in denial. It's a mental things.

Aww, your post just gave me chills. Although I'm living on my own now (well, with FH), I still sometimes miss living with my parents and having my mom to talk to and see every morning and eat dinner with. We would give each other pedicures at night, listen to music and dance like crazy fools, GOD, now i'm reminicising and you just made me all teary eyed---DAMN PMS!!!

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
lol alias...doesnt it make you feel good to know that a lot of us feel that way? that makes me feel like im not alone in all this. its a lot to change...your home, your name, everything! i imagine though, that within the first few weeks, with all of the excitement...youll forget about your sadness. plus, if your family is like mine, hteyll be helping you move in and decorate and all the good stuff!!

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
Oh, I hear the denial. If FH didn't have to move out of state, I would be in the same situation! I ended up moving with him, so we are far away from eveyone together, so the adjustment was easier, but last year my parents sold my childhood home and I was MISERABLE, so I would stay at FH's parent's house with him because it felt more like home to me than my parent's new house. I don't know where I was going with that, just thougth I would share....

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
OMG!!! I went through the same thing when I moved out. I cried over the silliest things, like packing. I had my own apartment, and although I look forward to my future w/ my FI, it is sad leaving a part of you behind. It's weird now that we finally moved in together, I see all the same furniture & knick knacks that I had, but they're ours now. Very strange.
I think I'm the only one looking forward to getting rid of my last name though. I've heard a lot of girls get sad over that. ? Not so sure about the women here?

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
(sniff, sniff)
My stepfather does my pedicures...and he does them well. It's so weird, maybe it IS PMS!!! I have been living here part-time since 1998, when fi got an apartment. Why am I suddenly even considering the idea of being sad? Or is it because DAWNIE isn't here and I am usually the one not being home...nah, most likely PMS. Thank you though everyone, I do feel better. I felt like a freak before. My mother came in to kiss me goodnight, and started with all of the , 'I am going to miss you...(stuff)'. I got out of my chair, looked at a few pictures on my walls of my freiends when we were younger and I got all mushy...
