For all of you that live at home, stop and take a good look at your bedroom. I am 27 and I am living between my parents house and Fi's apartment. On my walls, I still have a picture of GOOFY, pictures of my friends, the bouquet I caught at my cousins wedding (and what do you know, it worked, I am getting married!), framed postcards from 1996, a college tassle, and many other memories. I look at the color of the paint which I picked out seven years ago (Ralph Lauren paint with has held up well), and a blue rug which I would never even dream of buying now. Nine months from today, my mother will no longer be able to ask the question, 'Are you coming home tonight?' because I will always be coming home to Brian. I think for the first time, (Maybe because it's the first time since Dawnie got married that I came home and I had no one to 'play with') it has hit me that I am getting married. Now that I pointed this out, does anyone feel like this or and I just getting emotional over nothing.

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
One of my threads on the NWR board last week was 'I am having a mushy night'!!!! I didn't think anyone else had those. My FH works late till 1-2am and I get soo lonely being here all alone. So the other night I made it worse for myself by looking at old photos, letters, etc... and crying like a little girl!!! Glad i'm not the only one!

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
I feel like that too. I still live in parents house too and I'm starting to get sentimental about leaving. Even thought I moved out for college for 4 years, it wasn't the same. A while ago I was home alone on Saturday night just sitting on my couch watching a movie and I started thinking that in a few months this won't be my home anymore. I got really sad.
It's alot harder beacuse my sister and my 2 year old niece also live here too. I've seen my niece everyday and have basically helped raise since she's been born. It will be so hard not being invloved in every little thing she does. I've been like a 'second mother' to her.
But, at the same time, I am so excited to live with FI and start out life together.

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
(Not to say I am glad you feel this way, but I am happy that you do too because tehn I know this is kind of normal... )
I know, before Verizon had there lay offs fi had different shifts every 8 weeks. We would fight like h*ll, and I was always depressed. The worst was 4-12 because he would go out after work which infuriated me! I would be alone everynight, and we would only see eachother on the weekends.. Very depressing.

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
Your making me cry thinking about it. Everytime I go home (I Just recently moved out) I go up to my room and I have so many stuffed animals, prom pictures, a wedding bouquet I caught at my stepsisters wedding ( mine worked too). I look at my carpet that took me 23 years to get and I only got to enjoy it for two. I get really sad everytime I leave my mom. I feel like she's so alone. And she might really be alone soon because my one brother died, and now my other brother may be going to Albany for a year to train for the State trooper. we were always soo close and I feel like I am deserting her. It is really depressing. Then I try and think of the new life I will have and how soon enough I will be bringing her grandchildren over to brighten her days. I suddenly feel so old. I am cherishing these last eight months before I leave her home for good.

Oh girls......this thread is so melancholy (I love that word!) But just think - there came a point in your parent's lives when they left their homes too....and here you are today!

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
I am having a little bit of an opposite problem. For te last year I have lived with my fi and nowthat we have finished gradschool we are moving to our respective homes so that we can save. In two days we wil be seperated for the two years until our wedding. I will miss him dearly but know that it is for the best. I know it will be hard though when my mom doesn't hold my room for me to come back!

I have told Fi that I will still come home two days once we get married, but I don't think he took me seriously.

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
Even though I never got depressed about moving out, I also did it 8 years ago and it just wasn't the same thing for me. I was so excited to be the first of my friends with my own place, nothing else mattered (I was only 20 - it was a non-stop party ).
But when I first moved in w/ FH I stopped, looked around my apartment at all of my things and realized that I was going to have to share for the first time in my life and I got really sad!!!

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
Gee, I thought I was one of the last few brides who was getting married from her parents' house...guess not. I will probably cry my eyes out the night before my wedding. I have lived in my house since I was brought home from the hospital as a baby. I went away to school, but since it was a LI school, I was home on the weekends..A LOT. This getting married and moving out thing is going to be tough. FH still lives at home, too, so I guess it will be an adjustment for both of us. I'm glad we are in it together

Re: Wow, I just got really depressed...
I completely understand. When I go to my parents house....I still go to my room and lay down on my old bed. Sometimes, I stay there for like a half hour....remebering all my fond memories & looking at all my stuff. My husband thinks I'm weird.
Lucky for me, my parents changed my sister's room into a guest room and plan on keeping mine the way it is.
