Wow! Is this Vendor Quote Way off Base?

Ladies,

I just started looking into ceremony musicians, and so far have only received one quote. I was a little taken aback by it, and am wondering if they are just on the high end or if this is what it really costs.

It's $300 per musician for 2 hours. I want a string trio, so it would be $900. All thoughts of the string quartet went out the window when I heard the price!!

We actually only need the trio for an hour... do you think they would only charge me half? Two hours is just too much for us -- our ceremony is short and we already have music lined up for the cocktail hour.

Again, this quote could be totally standard. Maybe I'm just suffering from sticker-shock overload from planning so long. Any help you can give would be gratefully appreciated, girls!

my friedn paid like 700 for her string quartet they r expensive

try going through your local hs music department or something. that's what we're doing. FH contacted his former music teacher who is actually part of a string trio, and they'll be playing at the ceremony for us for quite a bit less than you were quoted.

I have a string quartet for several hundred dollars less - we're having the quartet for one hour at cocktail hour. Check out Vintage String Quartet - $650!

Also, even less than what I have is MAS Music and that is a trio. She quoted me just under $500 for the trio for one hour.

Ceremony musicians usually get between $100 and $200 per musician per hour.

Thanks so much girls... I just wanted to make sure that that wasn't outrageous. Of course, everything seems outrageous in wedding-planning!

I also feel better knowing that the money goes to actual skilled professionals who should be valued for their art... not like some other cheapy, over-priced items that the industry tries to throw at us.

You girls are the best!
