um ok i just got a call from a woman who was speaking spanish and asked for my dad. so in my pathetic italian/spanish/english i asked her what she wanted. . . she apologized that she didnt speak english. So, I put my mom on the phone to talk to her - my mom spoke to her in spanish and then hung up.

get this. . . .

it was a TELEMARKETER

a TELEMARKETER CALLED MY HOUSE AND DID NOT SPEAK ENGLISH.

WHAT THE EFF?

Denise - my parents had a similar experience when they came here. . . they had to learn. . .and now they speak english, italian AND spanish
not only were they forced to learn the language, some places wouldn't hire them bc they were italian!! ( this is in the 60s/70s - an era of discrimination against italians and other europeans that few people know about!!)

and Kerri - i respect your opinion, and didnt meant to offend, you didnt have to edit bc i get what you were saying

i like when you call a customer service rep and theyre speaking broken english with an indian accent and you ask for their name and they say MICHELLE... ok im gonna shut up now. sorry if that offended anyone....
