I'm just in complete disbelief right now. So on Wednesday I went to the jewelry store to put sizing ball in my engagement ring. They were able to put them in right then and there so I paid and got a receipt. On the the receipt was my name and phone number and the declared value of the ring. Also for some reason or another they put that the ring would be ready in a couple of days. Later on that day I went to the mall with my mom and dropped the receipt somewhere by accident possibly when I pulled my phone out of my pocket. A couple of hours after leaving the mall I get a call from a guy saying he found the receipt and was asking if I needed it back. I thanked him for notifying me and just asked him to throw it out for me. Today I get a call from the jewelry store saying that someone called them saying they were a friend of mine and would be picking up the ring a couple of days for me. Fortunately the people at the jewelry store know me and gave me a call telling me what happened. I feel so angry and even sickened that someone would do something like that. I feel angry at myself for dropping the receipt and for giving some scumbag the chance to steal my ring. I want to cry and punch that person in the face so bad. My FH saved up a long time to buy me my ring and even had it custom made for me. I'm just so angry and want to call that person back and just scream and curse at them.

OMG I want to cry for you. I can't believe it. I'm just glad your ring is exactly where It should be. good thing there are still intelligent people in the world. Had the jewelry store not confirmed with you there's no telling what might have happened.

Luckily it's the jewelry store where my FH had the ring made so they know us extremely well. I'm just so beyond furious.

Yeah and FH is a computer tech so he was able to track down his house address. I'm wondering if I can file a police report I have his name too the jewelry store gave it to me.

What If the person that originally found the receipt and called you dropped it and another person tried to steal your ring? Just thinking because it would be pretty dumb to call you then try to steal it.

Some people are such losers ugh. But Thank God all is well. Make sure you replace that card. I don't think you can file a police report but I'm not all sure about that.

They were stupid the same name we traced back to the phone number was the same name that they said when they called the jewelry store. Luckily my credit card number wasn't on the receipt so I don't have to worry about that. I found out a police report can be filed on behalf of the jewelry store as fraud and because of the value of the ring it would be considered grand larceny which is a Felony. :0 I'm going to give it a day or two and think about what to do. By pressing charges this person is looking at potential jail time and one of our groomsmen is a detective for the NYPD so this could get ugly. I dont really want add possibly putting someone in jail on top of wedding stress I already have.:(

Thats a crazy story! I would def file a report if it is possible. This person needs to be taught a very stern lesson about respecting other people's property, and that there are consequences for their actions.

Wow. You are so nice! FH is NYPD and neither of us would be having that. I'd make sure he was locked up and the key thrown away. Sorry this is happening to you!
