Talking online with the lady whose kids I babysat for from when the youngest was 3 until she was 10...still talk to all of them...she just hit me with her husband has a brain tumor, taking over the whole left side of his brain, bigger than a softball....she is fighting the insurance company because they do not cover Sloan Kettering...which is where he will get it done....she said screw it, they want it done ASAP< so she is going to call tomorrow to set it up for him....its a 4/5 hour operation, and he has to be awake during the whole thing....he is nervous, scared, as he!!, as we all are....but he has the top neurologist in the top hospital, so we are confident he will pull thru---but its still scary....VERY SCARY...I will know the date tomorrow I am hoping, but I am scared to death..I love this guy so much like my Father, when I was in a bad car accident 11 yeers ago, he was there (he is an EMT) and he took care of me...this is so scary....Cancer is so scary.....all prayers are asked for in this horrible time...I never knew anyone with such a horrible situation....and they found it at his annual eye doctor appointment, when the doc saw something behind his optical nerve....Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about that Holly. FMIL had cancer two years ago and is in the same position with Sloan Ketering. They are now 300,000 in debt from her cancer. On the brighter side, her neighbor had a similar brain tumor and he is doing well. He'll be in my thoughts!

Thanks for all the prayers girls!! Keep them coming! I am going to be in NY this weekend anywyas, and I always make sure to go to their house, but will be a lil different this time..he is taking it ok, he has his moments...the news is so sad, and I pray and hope he pulls through ok...I know he is in great hands being at Sloan Kettering, and his Health is the most important right now..who cares aobut how much it costs, and I am sure we can do benefits and stuff for him...like I said before, I love this guy so much...just like my father...and I have alwyas looked up to him, even when I babysat his kids back in the day...still stayed in contact with them...and if it means coming out for a week or a long weekend to stay at their house (since the kids do not drive YET) or making a special trip to visit him in the hospital (can you get visitors there???) Whatever---I will do it...he means the world to me, and it made me cry when I was told this news...you hear about stuff that touches you, but when you KNOW the person, it makes it 1000 times worse!! Thanks girls againa nd keep him aned his family in your thoughts and prayers...I will tell his wife about getting legislature to harass the INs. Company..he needs this no matter what.....

It is horrible that Sloan doesn't take insurance. They offer some of the best treatments around and people have such limited access. It angers me just thinking about it. I know so many people (unfortunately) who have had cancer (espcially breast cancer) and have wanted to go to Sloan but couldn't because they couldn't afford it.
